Err.... "Happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us . He who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." (Psalm 137) "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." (Le...

Re: Are Atheists /Agnostics /Etc Alike?

Thanks for the reply! The reason I asked the ritual question is that it really taps into a lot of human psychology that we all experience, and it isn't necessarily religious. I'd say we all have *some* form of rituals we perform, which give us some structure and perhaps give us a feeling of security...

Re: Ask an alcohol-drinking, girl-kissing, pot-smoking Atheist!

Obama or Romney? Why? Neither - I'm voting for Gary Johnson. Sure, you could go on about how I'm throwing away a vote, but I strongly believe we need a third legitimate political party in the US, and choosing the "lesser of two evils" is the only reason we have only evils to choose from i...

<r>Just based on some of the previous comments, would you tend to conclude that faith-based religious beliefs tend to hamper individual perception or understanding of reality?<br/> <br/> Edit: Just thought of another. <E>:)</E> What is your opinion on rituals in general? Remember to get out and vote tomorrow!

And then sit back and hope that the 538 people who actually elect the president make a decent decision.

<r>I voted for the first time in 2004 and then again in 2008. Sadly, I don't usually make the primaries or municipal elections unless they're on the ballot during the Presidential election. I do vote for judges on occasion especially the ones I know are not crazy. <E>;)</E> As for electioneering, I ...

Re: Movies on Netflix Instant

I looked through my Netflix history to answer this post, so bear with me. ;) I don't watch many movies, but there's a few episodes of the new "Sherlock" series, if you're into that sort of thing. Otherwise I believe the original series with Jeremy Brett from the 70's (which follow the book...

Re: "God is not a man..."

Without a realization of the coming judgement against sin, there is no need for repentance from sin! So the only reason for repentance from sin is to escape judgement? From the background I come from, we call this kind of repentance "imperfect contrition". It basically means that we are s...

Again, it depends on where you draw the line of invasiveness. And not all Republicans support those. Not all, but most do. And I'm just saying that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats, they both support the same expansive and invasive government actions, and government only con...

Q: How much truth is there in religion? Echoing the words of Pontius Pilate, "Quid est veritas?" (What is Truth?) So, assuming that we all agree Truth refers to a body of observable phenomena leading to some objective conclusions about the nature of reality, I would answer B/F. I think ma...
