What's Your ToO Story?

Post by Bren »

What is your ToO story? How did you find the site? What has the site meant to you over the years? If you've been away, when were you last active?

I actually found the site through AIOHQ back in 2008. I loved it from the moment I found it, so I joined right away. For those first several years, I was a misbehaving teen with a thirst for power. To recount all that would take an eternity. Suffice it to say, that in spite of my spammish ways at the time, so many of you welcomed me with open arms and I've developed friendships that continue to this day. This site has shaped so much of who I am today, and I am very thankful for it to be a part of my life 17 years later.

I found this site through whitsend.org, so our disclaimer "The site is in no way affiliated with Focus on the Family" always makes me chuckle because that's actually how I got here.

It was back when their site looked like this. In fact that's actually the exact page that brought me here! I noticed that little note on the bottom that says "Vote for your favorite episode" and clicked the link expecting to be brought to some other page on their website. To my surprise it went to a completely different site: an AiO message board.

I looked around a bit and joined that very night; I instantly realized that this was a special community that I wanted to be a part of.

(For added historical reference, this is what the ToO index looked like that day and this was the specific thread that announcement had been referring to.)

My brother and I had just joined the Town Hall like a day or 2 before the ToO started. When Shadowpaw announced this place, I refused to join for all of one day before succumbing. Been here ever since, although marriage and almost 6 kids have drastically cut down on my involvement, haha.

I found the ToO through some AIO site, but I can't remember which one, it's been too long, might have been AIOHQ, but I'm not sure. It was the first forum I ever joined, and I still like to drop in every so often.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
