Post your favorite president

another fun thread

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

John Quincy Adams.

Well, perhaps not, but what a statesman! And so overlooked...

Can we pick just from the presidents under the Constitution or also the presidents under the Articles of Confederation?

... over a personal vendetta, and to the great detriment of the U.S. economy. For that and many other reasons, I am no acolyte of the unscrupulous and unrefined seventh president of the United States -- the man who perhaps singlehandedly soured de Tocqueville on American politicians. (Though Jackson's fellow Tennessean and frequent antagonist David Crockett didn't do much to enhance the reputation of American officeholders, either.)

Interesting timing for this topic, considering that I'm taking a class called "Religion and the American Presidency" this semester. My familiarity with the presidents (up to this point) is rather weak, but I'm interested in Eisenhower, FDR, Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, and the more recent ones as well. Probably the only reason I'm not as interested in the others is that I don't know enough about them yet to pique my curiosity.

I thought it showed great moral uptitude when Lincoln's campaign printed counterfeit tickets to get extra people into the convention so that he would get the nomination with illegal votes! \:D/

And here I thought deTocqueville was rather upbeat in his conclusions.

:-s Uhm? So you'd rather our country have been separated into two smaller, warring nations, which in all probability means that Britain would have come back to strike against each, and take them back over again, which means that we would now be under the rule of Britain? \:D/
(yay for run-on sentences)
*ahem*

Hillary Clinton is my favourite president \:D/
