What books are you reading?

In the same vein as movie/music threads...

"Books? You want books?! Ha! We've got books on hairy otters, on onions and on mars! All the fungus you could care for, plus, three triple zillion stars. We've got books on flossing teeth, plus three books on tossing sheep. If we spent our lives just counting books, we'd never get to sleep!" -Leopold the Librarian ("The Great Wishy Woz")

anyway I'm reading The Children's War By Monique Charlesworth
and O Pioneers by Willa Cather - It's #83 on the ALA's most frequently banned/challenged books. I have no idea why I'm reading it either.

Frankenstein, Killing Lincoln, and the Screwtape Letters. I also recently finished When the Sleeper Wakes by H. G. Wells, which was surprisingly good.

I finished A Necessary Deception by Laurie Alice Eakes, it was excellent. Next up for me is Love Finds You in Folly Beach South Carolina by Loree Lough. The Love Finds You series is wonderful. Easy, fun romance both contemporary and historical set in various towns around the United States. I need to read a contemporary now. I've read so many historical novels lately that I feel like I'm in a time warp.

I finished The Children's War, it had one of the worst endings possible, the story was pretty good, but there were a few too many modern words for my taste and the story lagged a little too much. Off to read O Pioneers!

Agreed. Spoiler warning:
Buck's *ahem* scene in Armageddon was the most emotional I've ever gotten reading a book. I cried my eyes out.

I know, right?
Spoiler!
I was like, "NOO BUCK YOU CAN'T DIE NOW! JESUS IS COMING!" and then I cried =P I don't think any other scene, no matter who died, was that good. The only one which came close was Chloe's.

Dude, you're bringing it all back. >_> Spoilers, people. You don't want to read this until you read the book.
I knew ahead of time that Chloe was going to die, so it didn't affect me as much. Like you said, I was like "NOOO!!" about Buck. His death was so... painful. Plus, I had seen the movie(s) ahead of time, and so I was imagining Kirk Cameron dying. ;)
