I've gotten dozens of Internal Server Errors and even some SQL errors last night. :-

I have yet to get any Internal Serve problems, but this place is REALLY slow every time I want to post ANYTHING. On both of my comps.

To fix this, someone with access first needs to look at the server's error logs and find out what the problem actually is (because the 500 error page just means "there was a problem, but we're not telling you what it was"). Also, this problem is probably causing the invisible posts problem, because if you get a 500 while posting, the message may have gone in but it crashed before it updated the number of posts in the topic, leading to incorrect page breaks.

Ya what Tim said. People what browser does it happen in? To help narrow it down. I use Chrome.

I disagree. I’ve made three posts recently that did the incorrect page break thing, but received no error. The post was made and page loaded normally, but the post still didn’t show up in the thread page, only in the review box.

Speaking of glitches, I can't view any youtube videos on here. Well, I can on other user settings, but not on mine. I can view videos on the YouTube website directly, however.

Ah, there's a bit I left out. All it takes is for one person to have an error while posting on a given topic to throw off the post count for that topic. If it happens once, then for instance there might be 15 actual posts in a topic, while the topic list says there's only 14. That won't make a difference immediately because there are 20 posts per page, so you still see them all. But once there are actually 21 posts but the topic list only says 20, then it'll only offer to show you 1 page worth of posts, while there are actually 2 pages worth (20 on the first and 1 on the second).

Disclaimer: I know this can happen with phpBB2 (I once had to fix the TH when it was afflicted this way), but I don't have firsthand experience with the phpBB3 to know if they fixed this or not. The symptoms fit, though.

Ah, that probably is what’s happening then. Because with all the errors around someone probably had one in there.
Hope we get this mess fixed soon.

Hey guys, sorry I have not had time to play with this. The errors in the log give no clues as to the reasons for the scripts failing. I've just dumped the huge amount of cache files and changed permissions on it in case it wasn't emptying properly. Let's see if that has any effect. Seems fast right now, but that could just be my luck!

Keep me posted on any continuing issues. I'll subscribe to this topic. Also, I resynched one of the topics mentioned as not counting posts correctly. Moderators should be able to do this by going to the Moderator Control Panel in the forum containing that topic, but you are all welcome to post links to topics here that need to be fixed for them or me to take care of!

Whatever you did absolutely worked, thank you so much darcie! You definitely deserve your blue name, even if you don’t have it anymore. =D>

Yay! Well, I'm not sure why the cache folder was changed, if someone did it intentionally, or if it is a server set up problem that's causing the issue with the other setting. But this should be fine for now. And super glad it actually worked, because it was kinda shot-in-the-dark troubleshooting. ;)

And I took my blue name away to avoid the pressure. :-$
