My AIO Short Story! *Contest*

It’s time to start brainstorming ideas because My AIO Short Story is just beginning!

What do I have to do?
Write a short story based in Odyssey. You may use AIO characters or make up new ones! Just as long as it’s based in Odyssey.


Are there any specific rules I have to follow?
Your story must have a moral (kind of like Aesop’s Fables). Also, it is a SHORT story! So, to prevent from receiving novel length books, ;) the maximum length of your story may only be up to 1000 words. However, don’t feel pressured to write a 1000 word story. 500 or less will be just fine. =)


When is the deadline?
All stories must be submitted by March 14, 2011. Stories can be submitted to either me or The Kings Daughter.


What kind of prizes could I win?
The winner of My AIO Short Story will be titled as Best Writer of Term 18, and have the color of their name changed to purple for the week. The grand prize winner will also receive three free AIO shop items (When the shop is up and running). Second place will have their name color changed to orange and third place light blue. There will also be First, Second and Third place ribbons awarded.


If we receive numerous entries, we will be forced to narrow it down to the top 5 or so. That being said, your story should be creative and not overdone. A bunch of cliché stories isn’t all that interesting. So try to tell your story in a new and fresh way. :yes: Like, telling your story as if it were a BTV episode, Imagination Station adventure, or one of Mr. Whittaker’s old stories he wrote. It’s all about thinking outside the box. So, get creative!

I'm already writing a story that evolved out of the "Whit's Death" idea and no longer involves him dying, actually. However, it'll be very long, I'm still at the inciting incident and I'm at 2000 words.

Eugene-"Well, the sequence of events occured with extreme rapidity, but I shall attempt to recall them. I was powering my two-wheeler along this concrete pathway, when your personnage suddenly appeared directly in front of me blocking my course. My reflexes immediately sprang to life in an attempt to navigate an evasive manouveur around you while still maintaining course and speed, but I evidently over-compensated, and my Schwinn careened off the hardened path, taking me with it, and up-ended us both in this shrub, a Rhododendron of the heath family I believe, deducing from the leathery evergreen leaves, as distinguished from the deciduous Azalea, which as we all know is..."

And Leonard, the rules say that the stories may be up to 900 words. So you might have to do some revising. :anxious:

Sounds fun! I've got an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for while. I might be able to use it. And having my name changed to the most amazing color ever (purple), would be awesome!

o.0 - my short story for my AP Lit class came to 2000 words and it wasn't that long...
I guess I could do my Connie/Eugene idea... seeing as someone asked for that ages ago. *lame A&P and school and family stuff*
I'm not entirely sure you can cover a plot in 900 words...

Short stories are usually more than 1,000 words, so this is really flash fiction. O:)

Question...I've got a story already written and up on FanFiction.Net about Odyssey. Is it okay if I use that, or should I wrack my exhausted brain for more?
