As a general note, I typically don't use smilies when I'm annoyed because other people keep harping over the same subject over and over.

It wouldn't be a big deal if the Soda Shoppers didn't make it one... :-

Source please?

So, the starting of a topic is considered a big deal here?

You* made it a big deal by replying indignantly. You chose to make it a big deal.
Marvin D. wrote:As a general note, I typically don't use smilies when I'm annoyed because other people keep harping over the same subject over and over.
This made little sense. In exactly what way have I harped on the same subject?

Please note Joy, Aaron, snubs, American Eagle, and bookworm's attitudes throughout the thread, and any others who may have slipped my mind. They have sought to use this thread here as it was intended, each to his own way. It was never meant to encourage anything unChrist-like, and I apologize if it has appeared this way to you.

Also, as each of you post in your own way, I have mine. I still have a good deal of work in how I appear to others, but please don't make assumptions before examining posters more closely.

Overall, this thread has been extremely successful, thanks to all of you. Most significantly (to me), KBT has posted seven times on the SS along with several others. There have been many fun reactions and great posts. I have had a wonderful time, as I hope you have had.

You* have the opportunity to benifit from this (these) thread(s) too. Joy has responded to this thread by creating another one in the SOCH, asking what could be done to improve the default setting and chat, from my first glance. Bookworm has also created a thread on your* board layout. Should you* choose to respond to this, it could mean the greater good for both boards.

You* may continue this thread as you wish, but I will no longer be as active in it.

A special thank you to Joy, for starting this thread here.

That doesn’t make us better or worse, we can’t control what our members do in that regard.

That can also be hard to measure. It depends on what you consider "staying". Some people make a couple hundred posts, then vanish. Some people make 10's of thousand of posts and disappear.

Of course we cannot directly control them, but we can definitely influence their decision of whether or not to continue posting.

I suppose it would depend on the definition of staying. In this case, I would describe staying as the person continuing to make regular posts until they are incorporated into the general board community, meaning that they establish a reputation along with relationships with others.

No we can’t. You have no way of knowing why they stopped.
I can draw from personal experience when I say that one’s enjoyment of a message board or lack thereof is not the sole factor in their possible falling away. I joined this site years ago and loved it, but then a combination of factors forced me to take an hiatus for several years. Not because the people here influenced me to stop posting, because I was simply unable to continue. As soon as I could return I did so immediately, and have been active again ever since.

Well this has been more successful than I had hoped for! Thank you, everyone who has responded to this thread, both by posting and seeking Soda Shop enlightenment!

KF has joined the board. Many have no idea who he is, particularily as he has taken the name 'Pete the Moose'. Sunbs has become more active. Others have posted and joined.

Interestingly, this period also marks the revival of two old users, one of which I thought I would never see, and the other I hoped I would see!

P.S. If this thread were somewhere else on the board, I would have made a whole lot of money.

lolz. I joined as a spy. \:D/ The plan was to infiltrate the board and prove how ToO is much superior. I succeeded.

Point A: As made by AE, ya'll don't have Top. We have Top. Making us better individually. Reading his posts are like taking awesomeness vitamins.

Point B: You have the ERK. =;

Point C: Dancing Smiley. \:D/

While I will say these past few times I've been in the chatroom have been loads of fun. \:D/ The ToO is still and will remain my home board. ;)

Whatever you say Moose Breath.
"And the Lord saw that man had created the Internet, and He was most distressed. For once people started using chatspeak and improper grammar, their level of smartness was decreased by more than 500%. And so the Lord removed all the gifts he had once bestowed on man, and it was very sad." The Book of Marvin, Chapter 351, Verse 442.

Extra mayo on mine, and go light on the pickles, too.
