@Joy I was just about to comment on your grammar myself. There are plenty of kids I see around your age posting on forums with messages that are barely legible, much less grammatically correct. Kudos!
@Everyone else: Let it be said that I as a person don't have anything against any of the PEOPLE here, you guys are all great. The only thing I kinda dislike about the site is the inner workings of the site design itself and the way it's set up. When I said I felt like some of the people here were "fake", I'm remembering now that I only thought that because of the way a few of the female posters seemed to post generally "nice" comments on anything, no matter how awful it was instead of being constructive in their criticism. I realize now that's just something a lot of girls in general do that I don't care for.

I thank you all for the nice comments. When I wrote something when I was younger, I remember writing something once, just a comment on a site, and my mom was there, correcting. I didn't like it, because it took too long, but I've learned that good grammar is a nice thing to have. People take you seriously.Jesus_Minime wrote:@Joy I was just about to comment on your grammar myself. I didn't know I was 5th to join. I thought I was somewhere up there. I guess that's understandable.
Now, let's turn this around from a "compliment Joy topic" to a WAR! Oh yeah.

No, bookworm, it's much more of a nit-picky thing.
I like message boards. If I didn't, I wouldn't waste my time co-running one. I originally didn't really like the whole currency thing, but I guess that has it's place in RPG's and stuff. I mainly just don't like the design and layout of the board. I feel like it's a bit messy, and pretty tedious to get around all that clicking and (if you internet sucks) waiting for pages to load. The Soda Shop has a lot more of a sleek updated design with more professional grade graphics and stuff. I only spent a little time looking around here, but it seems like because of the more spread out, and arguably harder to navigate interface the mod team isn't quite as on top of things as it could be. For your site, that's not even quite as necessary though, since you have a lot more older users, and your younger ones understand the basics of using a message board well enough on their own.
I realize that a message board is nothing without it's community, and I think the Soda shop has a pretty solid growing community as well. We just also have a more "updated" feeling board

So, again, you don’t like that it has the design and layout of a message board? I’m not sure what you’re getting at. We have forums and sub forums divided by category... how else would we have it? Every other message board I’ve ever seen has the same layout.Jesus_Minime wrote:I mainly just don't like the design and layout of the board.
How do you mean? It’s easier to be on top of things on a clearly structured forum layout than one where everything is lumped together, in my opinion.Jesus_Minime wrote:it seems like because of the more spread out, and arguably harder to navigate interface the mod team isn't quite as on top of things as it could be.
Oh that's bad. No one insults my grammar! *shoves orange juice and milk down your throat* Let's see how you like the worst concoction in the history of the WORLD!

I just checked out the Soda Shop for the first time, and I happened across an announcement that the flirting was out of hand and henceforth would be punishable by a ban. Multiple people praised this action, saying they disliked all the flirting and it was about time something was done about it, and one even went so far as to say the flirting almost made them have to leave the site.Joy wrote:5. You can flirt on here! Sometimes, this almost seems like a dating site.
So I’m pretty sure this is not a valid point for site superiority, it seems to be just the opposite.
At first glance those lines combined to make "grammar pants".Jesus_Minime wrote:@Joy

It may appear so from the outside, but there are many legistics that would shape your opinion if you knew them.bookworm wrote:I just checked out the Soda Shop for the first time, and I happened across an announcement that the flirting was out of hand and henceforth would be punishable by a ban. If I could dump all of what was in my mind regarding this subject into yours, I do believe you would change your perspective. Unfortunately, I cannot do so over the Internet.
I can, however, give you some detail, though poorly conveyed it will be.

You never saw the life and imagination suzylou and Pound Foolish brought to our site. They shaped a new dynamic we had not experienced before. They dated jokingly for a time, bringing fun, sarcasm, and hyperbole. Much if the relationship was centered around the infamous 'Emily RULES' club, though it was not limited to the club specifically.
The dating was always limited to a small segment of the board members, though it brought amusement to all of us. Several members dated (jokingly) throughout the course of about two or three months. For the most part it stayed within bounds of reason, bringing an enjoyable pastime to some and a little drama to watch for the rest of us.
This changed for the worse due to several factors, involving new members, a new level of seriousity, and general drama and conflict between several of the members. I will not go deeper here, for the sake of one user who left in particular, and for several others involved.
None of them need be named here, we all probably played a part in it in some way.
Flirting was never banned as a whole, excess and damaging flirting were banned, meaning that flirting should be done at the discretion of the user with the knowledge that they bear full reponsibility for their actions.
I am honored that you would visit us for yourself though; I can respect your opinion on us more now that you have seen us firsthand.

Haha, the reason he says "infamous" was because it was such a controversial subject. At one point, I think there were about 5 "klubs" to counter it's position.

I do like the Soda Shop. It's great if you just want to talk about AIO. =] I don't get on there much because I only have time to keep up with one forum, which is the ToO. Plus, SS is slower...not much activity, and that makes it uninteresting.
Personally, I like the ToO much better than any AIO site I've been on (and actually any forum I've been on, AIO related or not). Because it is run like a town. It has a shop, currency, elections, and of course, the people. It is also not limited to AIO. Though, I know SS isn't strictly just for AIO talk, it doesn't have the vast variety of subjects the ToO has...or can have. And that's an aspect I really enjoy.
I do agree that the "flirting" there is a little outrageous and I'm glad they are trying to tone it down. It's a little irritating to see every other signature have "Alice
Jake" (or whatnot). However, most of the flirting is in good fun...but just a little overboard for my liking.
I see the Soda Shop being for younger kids like 8 to 15, just because I find some of the posts a bit immature (in my opinion). It's also a good safe site for younger kids because it's smaller and there isn't subjects (that may be too old for younger children) like there are here, on the ToO. And again, if you strictly want to talk about AIO, the Soda Shop is the place for you.
Oh, and I saw that someone said that the ToO doesn't have as much discussion about AIO as SS does. That may be true, but if you really look around you'll find a bunch of Odyssey references (within posts) throughout the whole board. I can also say that, I may not post all that much in Whit's End (which is the place for AIO related topics) but I still consider myself to be a huge AIO fan.
On anther note, if this topic was supposed to be taken seriously it would have been posted in Finneman's..

Actually, there are 67763 posts in Whit's End compared to the entire Soda Shop's total of 35463. *cough*

But Soda Shop is newer than the ToO.

So, essentially, you're saying that we have achieved nearly half of your AiO posts in a twelfth of the time. I wonder how many we'll have when we hit the one year mark?Knight Fisher wrote:Actually, there are 67763 posts in Whit's End compared to the entire Soda Shop's total of 35463. *cough*

Nice try.
You may think the ToO is bigger and better, but it is not better, and one day it will not be bigger.
As a side note, we have a bigger percentage of people who stay after posting then you do.
