After having become aware of the inferior security of IE, I started using Firefox (quite a while ago); I liked the additional features, ability to make it not so ugly etc. Once after just installing/re-installing Windows 2000, I was trying to get the internet working, and I hadn't yet installed FF ...

As long as you stick to the stable releases, I don't think there should be any stablity issues.
