The Lake House

Post by Bennett »

Does anyone else think that this could have the potential to be the first interesting, clean, and original romance that we've seen in ages?

Something about this films strikes me as good that I want to go see in in theatres. I mean, it's PG, too...so it can't be as bad as some of the other films in there. And, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves were good from Speed...

I'm just so disapointed with all the romances out there these days that require sex to complete the love...:(

I thought it looked... interesting, and it may be the first romantic movie I willingly go see. As soon as it comes to DVD that is.

I think the plot seems interesting.
I don't like either Keanu Reeves or Sandra Bullock, so that will definately sway whether I see it, on dvd, or not.

It does seem sort of original, thinking about it. We have the "You've Got Mail" thing, but not from 2 years apart! I bet a lot of people will go to see how, if they can, they will get together!

I think it will be cute. I LOVE Sandra Bullock! But I don't think we will watch it in the theater.

I hadn't heard of it before this thread, but it does look good! I don't know if it looks wonderful enough yet that I'm actually going to want to see it in theatres, but I do want to see it sometime!

I hadn't heard of this movie, either, but it looks really good! I might go to see it with my mom. It looks like something we'd really enjoy! :D

Seeing as it's opening the same week as Nacho Libre, I would'nt be able to spare a free ticket to go see it anyway.

I am also interested in watching this movie. I like both actors as well. Should be a good one. At least I hope it is. I haven't decided if it's a theater movie or a rental movie yet.

Alright! I saw it last night and aside from a few minor things, I really enjoyed it. Didn't check my watch even one time! And that's usually how I measure my interest in a particular movie.

Here goes my attempt at a review.

"Lake House" is actually a remake of a Korean movie. So not all that original in the broad scheme but then, who here watches a lot of Korean movies? :doubt: So it works.

The movie is pretty calm and pleasantly paced the whole way through. It starts off nice, you see the man and the woman doing their thing, each in their invidiual lives.

We know they are two years apart, but in the movie you don't know who's where for a little while and as the movie continues, it becomes increasing hard to tell whose reality you are watching, which is what is GOOD about the movie.

The complicated thing about future/time travel-ish stuff is the whole problem "Do bad things happen when I mess with things or when I don't?"

There are some twists and clever things that had me quessing. I was watching with Anne and Evangeline, Evangeline had seen it before. So I was guessing and trying to get her to confirm things.

Also, I usually don't notice the background music and such, but at certain climatic parts, I really enjoyed the music.
There were also some neat camera shots and such.

LA END!

SPOILER:

HAPPY ENDING!

Not interested. In my opinion, Keanu Reeves is the worst highlighted actor in any movie I've ever seen.

I don't know what you mean by "Worst highlighted actor" but he is a terrible actor.

As in, worst actor that is popular... that people actually know about... etc.

I just saw this movie today with some friends, and I really liked it! \:D/ Four out of the five of us enjoyed it (all girls) so that seems like a decent approval rating! It was so sweet sometimes, and even though I knew about the 2 years thing, it was still interesting to see how it fit together and trying to figure stuff out. It was definitely cleaner than a lot of romance stuff out of it, though I couldn't give it a total clean rating. It was still quite good, at least in my opinion, and I definitely want to see it again to try and notice things that I missed the first time!

My thanks to Bennett and JD for making me really want to see this movie! \:D/

I'll admit the adds make it look interesting, but if I ever do see it, it'll probably be on TV.

It's a movie that probably appeals a bit more to females, but there were a lot of guys in the theatre when I went to see it, and it does have some cross appeal, I think. If you do see it listed in the TV guide in like two years from now, you should definitely watch it! \:D/

As soon as I heard about this movie, I knew I would like it, but it was even better than my high expectations. It was so great to see a movie about loving a person for who they are, not what they look like. It was really moving, it even made me cry - not an easy feat! (and I didn't notice any bad acting).

Have you seen Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves' Lake House movie? It's almost a modern day twist and adaptation to Jane Austen's Persuasion. It was kind of sad too, but a neat idea even though all the details didn't really work. What did you think about it?
