It's an awesome musical. :) I'd love to see it on the stage as well.

I thought the music was pretty, but the whole idea of the Phantom being obssessed with Christine was... :anxious:
I've only watched Phantom of the Opera once, but I don't think I'll be watching it again.

I love the movie. :D

I don't neccessarily like the Phantom's obsession with Christine either, or the worldview portrayed, or the morals, or the plot for that matter...but the songs are really pretty and the whole movie/play is very "dreamy"...a quality which I like very much. (I don't know if that technically "justifies" me watching it... :-k )

I love listening to Micheal Crawford sing the part of the Phantom. I actually like the musical better than the book.

I LOVE this movie. I've never seen it on broadway but I've heard the soundtrack, and own the 2 hour soundtrack of the movie.

It's just soooooooooooo good.

That's another reason I don't like watching it. There was too many parts when Lynne told me not to look, and there was a whole song we skipped through, so I don't really think it's worth watching again, though I do enjoy getting piano books from the library with those songs in it.

I have not seen the latest movie version (but I saw the Wishbone adaptation :- ), the whole thing seems like Christine needs to wake up and smell the coffee. If a man wearing half a mask and a cape told you to come with him to his uber secret dark layer, would you go? ;)

I love Phantom of the Opera! I wish I could see it on stage, but I'd rather see Wicked. I saw the Wishbone version of POTO too! :D

I'm glad you posted Cowboy. I thought I would be the only guy posting on this topic.
The movie and the musical are both good. I've never seen a live performance just heard it. I liked the phantom in the movie, he did a good job. And Christine was just *cough* beautiful *cough*. At least I thought so.

Indeed, Christine was beautiful. :D Did you know that she was only 16 when they were filming? She has an amazing voice for only being 16!

ok Sesshoumaru's two cents. I've noticed a lot of stuff about I dont like The Phantom's obsession of Christiene. Well you gotta think about a cupple things. First like has been mentioned the year this takes place, it was different back then. how different I cant really say not having lived back then myself. The other thing you got to thinkl about is that all his life The |Phantom has been shunned by everyone all because of his looks. Then he finds one person, a beautiful young girl, who treats him in a sence like a humen being even though they've nto met face to face. I could see how someone like the Phantom could become obsessied with her, though granted I dont believe that one of us should become obesessed with someone, save for Jesus.

Now this is only my exp and I've seen an older POTO once and I own the newest movie version. Though I'd love to see the stage performance.

The other thing is the Phantom is also playing of of Christine's belief in the Angel of Music that her father told her about before he died. I think that because her father has been dead for a long time and it's obvious they were close, she's ready to believe the Phantom is the Angel of Music.

*has seen Phantom of the Opera on stage* \:D/

And the movie was pretty good... though really, Michael Crawford shall always be the voice of the Phantom in my eyes... err... ears. The dude in the movie did okay, though.

I've also read the book and seen a rather large number of film adaptions...

O_o *jealous*

How do they do the chandelier crash?

I like the "eerie" quality Michael Crawford's voice has in PoTO, as well as his incredible range. It does sound rather nasal at times, though.
