New ideas and suggestions

Post by Blipadouzi »

Hi everyone,

I had a few thoughts here and there about how to get the Church cleaned up a little and in a more presentable state. Also, I am hoping to get it a little more active.

Here are some ideas I had...feel free to comment or add your own.

Devotions (Bible room)

It was once discussed that we condense the devotions into one thread to clean-up the clutter. Although this was a good idea, I think it would be better if we created a sub-forum specifically for devotions. We could also post Bible studies and topical studies here too.

They can be deleted after a certain amount of time...or left on indeterminately (or until Shadowpaw cleans out the ToO).

But at least this way, people can post as many devotions as they want, without cluttering the main church area.

Prayer requests & Praise reports (prayer closet)

As much as it helps to declutter the forum...I am not fond of the idfea of having one thread for all the prayer posts...it makes it somewhat confusing when there are several prayer requests and multiple conversation going on.

Also, I am hoping to start encouraging people to post praise reports of answered prayers, both those they posted in the FCO and those prayed for personally. As well, it would be cool to see some reports of what God is doing in our lives. (new house, new job) things that were not necessarily prayed for specifically...but are quite obviously a reasult of the Lord's intervention.

So what I would prefer to see, is another sub-forum specifically for Prayer requests & Prause reports.

Tithing

I had this idea back in February of how it would be neat if people would tithe to the FCO on their ToO monies. At this point though, I have not worked out the details of how.

I would not want people to make their tithes as a "donation" to me...because
1) I don't want the Church money and my personal money to get mixed up.
and
2) I don't want people to think that I would be doing this to increase my ToO bank account. :D

What I was hoping we could do is use the money as some sort of a ToO foundation, and supply grants to people for scholarships (High School diploma or Specialised diploma)...
funds needed to open factions...
funds needed to get out of jail (community service work)
And other sorts of stuff.
We can even name the foundation after Eugene & Katrina's new foundation (though the name escapes me at the moment) ;)

*********************************

That's it for now...I'll give it a week or so, maybe less...and then present the final details to Shadowpaw for approval and to put in place.

God bless, and talk to you all soon.

I'm fine with a different thread for each prayer request.......just so long as it has it's own area.

This morning when I logged on and saw who had won the election (congradulations Trent & Frank), I thought I would go and re-read their election platform...just to refresh my memory.

While I was there, I came across this as one of their plans/ideas/promises...

It is our deepest wish that all the citizens of the ToO get to know one another and we believe that prayer for one another is one of the very best ways to do so. Prayer meetings have not only the benefits of live, personal chatting, but also the overwhelming peace that comes from knowing that God makes his presence known when believers come to Him in prayer. Very Happy *is blissfully happy at the thought*
You know...it's pretty kewl, because I was going to suggest the exact same thing this morning...but at least this way, we know that the Lord is doing something with this board, and that He is confirming His will with several people.

Congradulations once more to our new mayor and CoP...and we pray that God will guide you in your toughest decisions.

Blessings on your both and the rest of the administrative team.

I'm assuming the prayer meetings (once they got started) would take place on IM?

Peace Out

The JeC team installed an iRC chatroom on The ToO...you can find it if you go to the Main Index.

My understanding is that it would take place in there...

IM would have 2 problems...
1) Not everyone has an IM account, and some who do would not want to share their IM account ID.

2) Between MSN, ICQ, AIM & Yahoo...Not everyone would be using the same IM client.

Too true...but depending on what Trent & Frank had planned...we might be able to hold 2 meetings 12 hrs apart.

Say if we did the meetings on Satuday and had one at 10am EST and one at 10pm EST...this way, no matter where you are in the world...there would be at least one of the two that would be a decent time

I really like the idea of tithing to a Hands Up! type organization... I also think it would be nice if we used the fund to make newbies feel welcome after they've posted, say, 5 times? Just an idea. Maybe we could give them a hundred dollars apiece? That would get them avatar privilege.

I like praying by typing way better than praying out loud-- especially when it's in real time, like over IM or something.

Besides...if we really want to go with voice-chat...all we need is Yahoo Messenger.

I like the idea of prayer meetings and prayer requests topics. I know I've got load of prayer requests. Maybe there could also be a thread for thanks? Like I'm thankful I made it back to college safely. And answered prayers. That could also be in there.
I like Odyssey. DBD was my favorite saga and I am friends with Eric Delko and prplrane_13. Marisol Delko Caine is my sister. I like Ponybox and listen to Linkin Park and Newsboys.
