Doesn't Hollywood have any fresh ideas?

Tired of remakes?

Post by Jennifer Doyle »

Movies like Dukes of Hazzard, Bewitched, and the like seem to show that Hollywood has run out of good ideas for movies.

This is true. Plus, the remakes are never as good as the original movie. If the movie is a remake of a classic TV show, nine times out of ten the original TV show is better. I have yet to see a sequel to a movie, or a remake that is any good. I have noticed that Disney has started remaking alot of their classic movies and I have never gone to see the remakes because the classics are better.

Some I get excited about, but most are (like you've been saying) not as good as the old one - like Yours, Mine, and Ours!

Sometimes. That Darn Cat was much better as the original, but I prefered the remake of The Parent Trap. It's a toss up all things considered. Although I do find myself wishing they could comeup with something fresh and new.
Do any of YOU know how to make hand shadows?

Those aren't remakes! Those are movies based on tv shows! yes, not very original, but def better than a remake of one! besides, I liked those movies

Remakes can go either way. King Kong was DEFFINATELY better than the original, because of effects. Which is why I think Poseidon will be better than the orig too. And Fun With Dick And Jane.

And Hollywood CAN'T come up with ALL original ideas! If they stopped making remakes and sequels, there wouldn't be very many movies to go to. Besides, they're money crazy.

I also like the remake of the Parent Trap better than the original. That is about the only one so far.

I'd have thought most of ya'll would've liked the remake of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe better than the original BBC version... :-

Although I guess that could be considered another adaption of the book rather than a remake of the older movie... :-k

How about that Dallas movie they are planning on. A movie about some old soap opera or something.

I LOVE the LWW remake because I barely remember the BBC version.

Yes, LWW was another definately made better with graphics!

We still have the original BBC videos on VHS. And we recently picked them up on DVD. Lots of memories there. Even though they were cheezy.

I heard Dukes of Hazard was awful, but I didn't see it myself. I actually really enjoyed Bewitched... it wasn't really a movie version of the show, either... but if you've seen it you know what I mean... if not... err... its kind of hard to explain. But it had Will Ferral and Steve Carell in it. :inlove:

Though personally I like the original King Kong a lot better than the newest remake. O:) This remake was good, though. The 1977 Kong remake I don't really like.

The ONLY reason i went to see the remake of Yours Mine and Ours in the theater is because Hawk Nelson is in it... i'm a huge fan of theirs. and my Mom wanted to spend some cuality(sp) time together. :D

well, there is such a thing as a good sequel. The sequel to the movie A Fistful of Dollars called For a Few Dollars More was quite good. \:D/

But then again the sequel to Young Guns was pretty disappointing :( I really didn't like it.

The newer Parent Trap rocks! love that movie! I'm not a fan of King Kong but Pj's is way better than the original. by far. There are good sequals but not very many.
maybe its not the destination, maybe it's the journey

At least all the movies they're remaking are being done better than the old one, at least trying to do better. Making a movie of an old show wouldn't neccisarily be a remake.

This DiVinchi code crud is new at least. Which is probably why everyone's jumping all over it.

That's based on a book, not a remake.
