2012 Summer Olympics

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Coming from a soccer player, calf muscles are reeeally important for sprinting... it's easier to explode off your toes, and necessary. So in a sense, yeah, there's the advantage he won't get a calf cramp, but he also doesn't have that extra muscle to give him a boost.

South Africa came in last... His team was behind pretty much the whole time.

What about that he’s also participating in the Paralympics?
Is that fair, or should he have to choose one?

That was very cool. I honestly thought Spain was going to win there for a while but the Dream Team pulled it off.
I must say that I was very disappointed in the attitude of the Brazilian soccer team when they won the silver medal. They could have at least smiled. They should be told about all of the athletes that came to the Olympics and did not win medals. IMHO a silver medal is nothing to be disappointed about at all.

Anybody else planning to watch the Closing Ceremonies? The Opening Ceremonies were super good, so I'm looking forward to this. My brother and I have been watching some stuff on BBC online, so that's how we'll watch the Closing Ceremonies too. Hey, the games are there - why not listen to a great British accent commentating? \:D/

I will probably watch. I haven't made my mind up either way yet.

So NBC decided to cut a lot of the closing ceremony coverage in favor of a rather stupid comedy and local news. How does everyone feel about this? Personally, I think Animal Practice is now the most hated show on tv before it even starts.

They showed The Who and everything else after Animal Practice... I just didn't feel like staying up until 1 o'clock again. I need my beauty sleep. ;)

They didn't actually show it. They just did interviews with some of the athlete stars.

I saw The Who... but I did get annoyed that they showed Animal Practice. I didn't like that show since I saw the first commercial for it.
