LOTR Marathon!

Post by Jehoshaphat »

Have you ever done a LOTR marathon? I have once and I am going to again tomorrow, with some of my friends. It is really fun but reaaaallllllllyyyyy long. Discuss.

I've watched all the movies closely together, but not back to back. That was too long for my family and me. We watched the Fellowship and the Two Towers back to back, then waited until the next morning for the Return of the King. Once the Hobbit comes out, it will be, like, a whole day just to watch the movies together.

Me, Steve, and some other of my friends did that for my 13th birthday. It was a blast.

No, I haven't marathoned LOTR. But then I haven't marathoned a movie series that I like, either, so... ;)

Well, at least not a literal marathon of one right after another for a day solid or whatever. I think my friends and I watched 2 Star Wars movies in one night and then the third the next morning once, but thats the closest. Now last November/December I went through the entire James Bond series but that was like one every day or two, not a total nonstop marathon.

...and yeah, I just don't care at all for the LOTR films. So I definitely wouldn't marathon them. I saw them all as they came out and just don't have any desire to see them again.

Top should have an Avengers Marathon covering Iron Man 1, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers.

I considered it, waiting for the movie to come out. ;) I watched them all like in the month/six weeks leading up to Avengers. I dunno, even if its something I enjoy I just can't watch that much stuff at once. >_>

Grr...I officially don't like you. For at least a day. I don't know if disliking LOTR is an unforgivable offense or not yet...pretty sure it is.

I agree! Top hates The Dark Knight, the KJV and now the Lord of the Rings! Enough hatin' is enough! :x

My best friends did an overnight LOTR marathon a year or so ago. I was invited, but it didn't work out for me. Probably had work to do.

Can't say I care for the KJV either, but I don't hate it at least...goodness, TDK was an awesome movie too!
Sad day you couldn't go to the marathon :( Someday I will host one. And maybe I'll invite you! :-

Yep. I've done it. Twice. Extended edition. All 11 and a half hours of goodness. Is it safe to assume they're my favorite movies?

Rocky or Rambo is a better series to marathon, if you're watching the extended editions of LotR you'll be asleep mid way through Two Towers, they're kind of hard to digest in a row...because they're so long.

Honestly, LOTR gets painful after so many hours. By the time you get to the end, you want to fall on your knees and beg the DVD player to just END THE PAIN!

And then you turn your head over to your friends, and proceed to converse, ignoring THE PAIN.

But it's kind of fun.
