Is Ska dead?
It's dead, but it shouldn't be. I blame the evil genere of pop music.*
Not because it's inherently evil, but because it's boooorring...

And mostly dead.

There are still some big band/ska type bands out there... don't know if there are any "Christian" ones left or not, though.

Each generation has it's own style of music that is all the rage. This style is dead now. Mainly, you see old people listening to it nowadays.
The days of this style are LONG gone. Doesn't make it wrong or right. Times just change.
Besides, this style had to get out of the way to make room for Lady Gaga and Britney!

I don't mind this style, but I haven't had a desire to listen to it in years.

@Amesthitic, it's like the same thing as alt/punk, just cooler. Maybe Christianmusic.net got it confused with reaggee.

I really don't know what reggae sounds like. All I know is...most ska rocks.

Just try and tell me you don't like this song:

Nup. The opening just didn't do it for me, and the brass instruments aren't my thing. The rest was meh.
Now if you want a good Kamikaze-themed song...

I can't wait for the new album.
*cough* But anyways, I still don't like ska. The only ska song I kinda liked was Relient K's "Five Iron Frenzy is Either Dead or Dying - Ska Version".
What a joyous message to spread to the masses.

How about this?
It's not totally ska, but the verse is definitely ska.

I'm not a fan of the song, but the usage of ska elements was fairly good. Still, not my favorite; not by a long shot.

I agree, the use of ska was really good. I really dislike the chorus of that song though.Amethystic wrote:I'm not a fan of the song, but the usage of ska elements was fairly good. Still, not my favorite; not by a long shot.

You do have to specify what kind of ska you're listening to. Like many "ska" groups had a very reagge, '70s sound. But later ska bands such as the OC Supertones and Five Iron Frenzy were third-wave, punk-driven ska. So, they had a ska element to them, but were mainly horn-tinged rock.

I can't wait till 10-20 years from now, our generations will be saying the same thing about pop music .AIO Psyche wrote:
