Discovering Adventure In Odyssey
Discovering Adventure In Odyssey
How did you discover Adventures In Odyssey? I heard it a few times before I became a fan. I finally went to Whit's End.org. After that, I loved AIO! It is now my favorite radio show! What about you? How did you find out about Adventures In Odyssey?

Back in 2000 or 2001 (I don't remember exactly which year now) I was listening to my local Christian FM station. They ran a commercial for their AM station's kids programming which at the time was on during the week and included AIO. The on air personality came back on and mentioned AIO and stated that she listened to it. So, that afternoon I flipped over to the AM station and listened to my first AIO episode. The rest, as they say is history.

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Abraham Lincoln
I can't remember, but I think it started with "No Bones About It". Then I looked it up, or my Mom did, and we bought more tapes. Soon I got one album, and then some more.

I was only about 5 at the time, so I don't really remember. But I do know that we listened on the radio almost every week until they stopped playing it on our local station, so I assume that we were browsing through the radio stations one day and happened upon it. My interest was revived when I was about 10 and we got some CD's from Chick-fi-la. I got my first set about a year and a half ago.

Thanks to my Secret Santa for the set!

Always and forever I have known about it.
I went through a period (around album 34 or so) where I wasn't listening ...and then started listening more regularly within the past 3 years or so. Not until recently have I experienced the joys of OWNING Odyssey albums.

When I was a kid we didn't have cable tv and the main local Christian radio station (well, it was the only one at the time) started playing it as soon as Focus started it (they always carried Focus on the Family), and they had a whole line-up of child-friendly shows on Saturday morning (Ranger Bill, weee!), so I started listening from the beginning.

It was... 2003... my birthday. The Parishes got me album #3, which coincidently was not the greatest choice at the time... 2 and a half months later my sister's best friend died. from cancer... and the episode "Karen" is in album #3...
I listened a lot during Novacom, but after that I didn't listen consistently 'till album 50. Now I listen all the time.

It was passed down from my parents. They were there for the original Family Portraits as they aired for the first time on Focus on the Family. We did not have a TV, so my dad was an expert at finding local Christian radio programming, so he managed to find the stations that had AIO and we would listen. Finally, we got a Christian radio station in town where we could consistently listen to AIO every night at 6:05. And on Saturdays at 9:00 AM.
In college I went through a non-listening period, but a few years ago I found the ToO and rediscovered Odyssey. Now I listen to every new episode online and I've begun collecting the albums.

I've been listening to Odyssey since I was three. Grounded me in it for life.

It's so hard to remember. My earliest memories of Odyssey are the individual tapes of The Visitors and The Popsicle Kid we bought when I was 5-7. From there we started listening to it on the radio every weekend at 6pm and every Saturday at 8:30. It was exciting times, especially listening in great suspense to the Novacom saga every day!
