What might happen if Obama becomes president

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

That was rude...... but.... rather eye-opening.

Even though this is a conservative board, it seems to me like there is a lot of Obama bashing. And while I don't want him to be president, I still like the USA better than any other country and wouldn't move if he got elected.

And one last thing, Obama himself doesn't scare me. It's Obama with a Democrat controlled Congress that scares me.

Okay... seriously, I'm not sure what anyone sees in McCain.. or Palin, for that matter.

I agree with GC. Though, if I could vote, I would vote for Obama. There are so many things to consider with a Presdient, and sometimes there may be a choice as to not vote for your party. I mean, you can vote whoever you want. It is your choice. Don't just vote Republican because you are one.. and vice versa. Pick the right person...

Obama sounds like he'd be a fine better president than McCain, in my opinion... but that is just what I think.
Seriously, why isn't there at least SOME bashing of McCain? Or do you guys all have to seriously be... immature, and only bash one? I mean, comics... they bash everyone, no matter who they are.

Ya...like SNL...and the mainstream media...They are totally fair in the bashing. :-k

P.S. While there might be "bashing" going on, I haven't read everything about Obama on this site yet, calling into question someone's character/policies, etc...(judging what they say against what they've done, especially if they claim to be Christians) is not bashing...

It's being discriminating. In the good sense of the word.

Ok like Cardigan said I knnow this is a Conservative board but you guys are hardly tolerant. You aren't willing to listen or understand about the world around you. America is a GREAT nation and I don't seen why anybody would want to move.

You don't see me saying I will move back to Bermuda if McCain wins. Obama being president isn't all that bad as it may seem. Why don't you just read hid site and and his policies? Just because he is black and a Democrat doesn't mean he will fail as president.

Here is my two cents:
I am really glad Tuesday is coming up. then the political stuff will be over.
I don't like Obama I never have but I still don't think people should bash him. Nor should people bash McCain. Just because they are running against each other does not mean we should bash the person we're not for.
Okay, that's my two cents. I'll vanish now. :-

So now you're even adopting the Obama/Democrat strategy of accusing anyone who will not vote for Obama of being a racist?

Nice.

Pointing out how Obama's policies will be a complete FAIL in office isn't bashing anyone.

And while one's skin tone doesn't determine their performance in office...one's party might. :p

i put it this way when someone asked me why i didnt like Obama. He is going ot higher taxes which in turn will make everythign go up in prices. He supports abortion. I have herad people say that he doesnt support it he just doenst have a problem with it.Well would we want someone in office that will not say no about the killing of innocent babies. He also voted against a bill that would give medical attention to babies that survive the abortions. Those babies i found out were just put in a room to die. Most of these babies if they recieved attention in the first 10-15 minutes they woud surivive most likely. That was one of the main tings that got me. I am not saying i agree with everythign that mccain says or does but still i like him alot better. and that is why or some of the reasons why I like McCain better then Obama.

HA! :hilarious: that is the most funny thing I have ever heard. When there is an abortion there is slim to none chances that the baby will survive. Obama wants to give a tax cut on the middle class instead of the high class. That is one of the components of his economic plan not raising taxes for everyone!.

You mean that "high class" that pays the lion's share of the taxes? ;)

We need to tax that evil high class and give it to good kind poor people! Oh, and we're not socialist either!:x

that is not socialism. I never said that the high class was evil either.

Socialism is when the government seizes the means of production for the economy. Barack obama's plan does not entail that at all. HE is just taking another strategy of economics. That being providing a tax cut for the middle class instead of the rich. That is not socialism that is merely the Keynesian theory.

Wikipedia wrote:Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.[1][2] Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][4]

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]

Socialism includes the government seizing the means of production, but it also includes government redistribution of wealth. Which Obama supports. ;)
