My extended family is coming over and we're going to have fun, food, and fellowship. Also draw names for Christmas.

We can't decide on going to the beach, the museum, stay home, or... something.

I have a sister who's in Virginia, but near enough to D.C that she could go there for a day if she wanted to. She's staying with someone who plays in the National Symphony Orchestra and she'd debating on whether or not she's going to the big 4th of July celebration on the Mall. I understand why she wouldn't because she's working at a computer camp all day, but there's no garentee that she'll be able to do this again.

Besides leaving for Europe, my father has also decided to do the regular large (well, as large as we can make it in our little court) fireworks display and we're making a Magic Whip Curtain! Bestest thing ever! I can't wait! :D

Dare I ask what a Magic Whip Curtain is? ;) Because I've never heard of one.

I hope you all enjoy the fireworks and parties and whatever else you're all doing today! :D

I think we are going to something called "The Freedom Fair" on our waterfront. And hanging out with family in general. Then we are going to watch the big fireworks show downtown.

It's only the bestest and safest do it yourself at home firework display! \:D/ We get a ton of Magic Whips (red strips of crackle power) and make them into this tiered curtain...and the layers burn one at a time from the bottom to the top, and it all gets louder and louder and louder until the final top tier which usually breaks and falls down right as it finishes! It's only the best thing ever, and perhaps I could get a picture of the one that we made the other night... :-k

Right now I'm just hanging out on the computer. Tonight our family is going to shoot off safe explosives like the kind that sparkles like a fountain on the ground, etc. \:D/ We bought a whole package of stuff at Wal Mart- great place to go.

Our plans were changed due to my son being ill. :sickly: Instead of attending the big family get together, we watched the city fireworks last night and had my parents over today. Still fun, just not what we had planned.

After watching a movie, we went outside and heard the fireworks going off, so we piled into my brother's car and at the end of our street we could see the fireworks and rather than chance missing more of the show, we got out and sat on the car and watched them. \:D/

"Now celebrate our country's independance by blowing a small portion of it up."

At the city Freedom Fair, a bunch of teenagers were setting off fireworks in the crowds and freaking everyone out. Then they started vandelizing cars.
