The ToO's Fantasy Football League

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

I actually have three. But look at the numbers. They are consistently 5-10 points behind the obvious QBs like Rodgers and Brees, putting me in a hole before I even start. I not only have to stay even with my opponent, I have to get extra points just to make up the deficit. They have the potential to score big, but only when they get lucky. It’s not a sure thing every week like it is with a real QB.

That's not the reason you aren't making the playoffs. >_>

Case in point, this week. You and I are against each other. My quarterback (Matthew Stafford) got 18 points, while your QB (Christian Ponder) got 22. Why then did I win? Here are my highest scorers this week (excluding Stafford), and when I got them:
  • Broncos D/ST, 9 points, got them this week because I thought my Lions D/ST would do poorly, and they did (-2).
  • Victor Cruz (WR), 11 points, picked him up on November 16.
  • David Akers (K), 14 points, picked him up on November 2.
  • Marshawn Lynch (RB), 26 points, picked him up on November 16.
  • Rob Gronkowski (TE), 24 points, picked him up on September 21.
In case you don't see the pattern, all of my high scorers were non-QBs that I picked up in free agency. I didn't draft any of them. In fact, my #1 pick was wasted on Michael Vick (a QB) who's been injured for a lot of the season. If anyone can complain about their QB being a total bust, it's me. Bottom line: One position doesn't win or lose the season for you.

Dropped Sanchez for Brett Favre \:D/

I don’t think so. I got Peyton Manning. ;)
I didn’t say that’s the only reason, I said it doesn’t help. I know I’m also losing because I don’t know what to do. I said that from the start.
But I’m still having fun.

Well put. That's what this is about. I'm glad you got that win over the Southwood Knights, though. \:D/

Bears aren't picking him up. :noway: But if you want a QB I'd be willing to trade Tebow for Greg Jennings.

And Bookworm I think you just have to be more active on the FA market. I've got 5 guys from my opening day roster. Two of them are starting. My Kicker and my Tight End.

I don’t remember who all I drafted now, but I believe over half of my current players were from Free Agency. I just don’t know how to pick people apparently.

Benched Ponder for Ryan, Starks for Ingram, and Davis for Gonzales.
Dropped Gostkowski for Billy Cundiff.

I think my lineup is looking pretty good this week, everyone has double digit projections. :)

Wow I'm starting 4 running backs. CJ Spiller counts for running backs and receivers. :P Now if you would let me start Tebow as a running back... By the way my offer of Tebow for Greg Jennings stands. And I am willing to entertain offers from everyone else for a big receiver.

I'm tied in projections against SWA. \:D/

Hahahaha, bookworm, the one week you actually bench Ryan Grant, he scores 21 points! :hilarious:

I didn’t bench him this week. He must have been still benched from a previous week. It wouldn’t have made a difference anyway.

Benched Jennings for Grant.
There are some other positions I could probably work on, but I don’t care enough right now.

Dropped Davis for Antonio Brown.
Benched Ingram for him.
Dropped Jets D/ST for Bengals’.
Dropped Cundiff for John Kasay.

Edit:

We’re now both projected at 108. This will be interesting.

So much for 108. Great start to the rivalry week tradition. Unfortunately... A POINT! I lost by a measly point! :sniff: And I had 3 guys on the bench who could of won it. And if the bears offense hadn't given up 14 points I would of won. Speaking of which why does that go to the total amount of points the defense gave up? And now the Bears season is over. I'm actually tearing up about that. So close for the second time in my life last year. And they blow it. To many injuries, on the offensive line. And Jay and Matt. A five game winning streak that should have been 9 this week. And it's over. The odds of ever seeing my baseball team win it all are small. Both of my grandfathers lived without it happening in their life. And now the defense is just getting over. All that's left in my sports year is a rivalry. One that is all that matters with the Bears now. To beat the Packers. So a rivalry and a blooming Rose.

Ughhhhhh.....I am so dead. Why did Ray Rice have to have an off night TONIGHT? :insane: I can only hope for Akers to miss some FGs and get some negative points. \:D/ And what was with the Packers D/ST doing so horribly against the Chiefs, of all teams?

Akers only needs 9 points, Laura. \:D/ This will be very close.

Many thanks to Megatron for getting me 33 points and saving the Lions' season.

Edit: Due to some weird correction, I actually only need 7 points now.

Also, bookworm, you won.

And why are they still showing Akers getting points for a FG when it was nullified? :insane:

Laura, I love that you're a woman and yet totally interested in football. ;)

Akers prevails! \:D/ That means that you and I (as the #2 and #3 seeds) will see each again next week in the playoffs...
