The Lake House
If they hadn't mentioned Persuasion in the movie itself, I don't know if I would've gotten it...but they did, and I agree with you, LiviNoel

And I loved the movie

I have seen the movie and really enjoyed it, but I haven't read "Persuasion" yet.
I actually just bought it yesterday for $5 or something like that because I really do want to read it and my sister really liked it, but she hasn't seen The Lake House, so I couldn't ask her how they compared. I found it interesting that they referred back to a Jane Austen book like that. After I read the book I'll be able to see how close I think the stories are, I guess. I got the impression from somewhere that the themes were more similar than the actual plotlines, but I could be wrong.

I saw the Lake House and I really liked it. The thing I liked best about it was that I couldn't tell how it was going to end up, even though I started catching onto certain things. [Hard to explain w/out spoilers.] I haven't read Persuation though, perhaps I should read it, rewatch Lake House, and post again. Ha. Ha.

I LOVE both the actors, so that was good enough for me.
And the rest of it was cute anyway. It wasn't too predictable either, always a plus.

I am the only one to blame for this
Somehow it all ends up the same
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride, I flew too high
and like Icarus I collide
with the world I tried so hard to leave behind
