I think that "know" and "famous" being used differently by different people. I would say no, I don't know anybody famous.
Here's a good example of the varying definitions of "famous." I shall take your kind remark as a compliment, while disagreeing a bit that this qualifies as fame.

I know Brandon Heath. Met him once when he came for 4th of July in Walla Walla, WA. I got him to sign my CD of his. It was exciting! That was like two years ago today... and I've missed him twice in concert... But, I know him in that sense!
I don't really know any one else... My friend Shay knows Amy Grant and a few other famous people I forget the names of. Other than that, famous just doesn't connect with my world....
At one point a popular rumor around here claimed that the man who invented the bar code went to my church. Also, the townsfolk in Ohio got the idea that Mel Gibson's kids went to my college there.
My mom inserted an IV into Johnny Cash! And Chuck Norris was in the same building as her (Loma Linda University Hospital. Apparently Chuck's step dad was/is some sort of doctor, I think a surgeon) Oh and my great grandpa discovered a new species of wheat. I've also met Taylor Mason and Thor Ramsey (anyone seen Bananas?) and I got their autographs. That is probably about it.
