Macs or Windows

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

In the years I've been running windows I've never had a virus, And my windows machine Is also perfectly stable, I can't even remember when it last crashed Its so stable(except when I used It how It SHOULDN'T be used.)
That's great! I'm glad that your money was well spent and you are confident that your machine is stable. Honestly, I know I'm not gonna change anyone's mind and I'm fine with that. Mac offers the programs I like and has a layout that I like. Mac works great for me, windows works great for you.

I didn't mean to imply that windows crash all the time or that the are always dealing with viruses or completely unstable. If you interpreted my post to mean that I'm sorry for the miscommunication. I know that that's not true. All I meant is that because there are more viruses that a windows COULD get, the probability of a windows getting a viruses is higher than that of a Mac. That is all I meant. I'm glad you haven't had to deal with that... :D

Edit: By the way, welcome to the ToO!

Macs aren't more secure, they are just more obscure.

It's like the analogy of the safes. If you hide a safe in New York among a thousand other safes, is that security? No... it's obscurity. If you stick a safe up front, and it has all the latest technology and up to date locks and combinations, that's security. Same with computers... just because there's few Macs around (obscurity) doesn't make it secure at all.

I'm not saying this in reply to anyone in particular here, just making a point. ;)

If you like Macs, fine for you, but it would really tie me down and hold me back, and stop me from being able to do what I want to do. =;

Yes, which is why I've said (several times) windows works for you and that's great. It doesn't work for me and as you said that's fine.

I never said that PCs don't do these things I just said that Macs do. Although I don't agree with everything you posted, I'm not going to go into all that. Anywaym, half of the things I listed are simply preferences. You'll also recall that I did preface my list with this:

I like Mac over PC. You don't. And I don't care. That list was only for rickyderocher who claimed I had no reason for liking Mac better. As far as I know I never asked you or Me for your reasons so I don't see why you felt it so necessary to post all that but if you felt you had to defend your reasoning, like I said before, I don't care.

And the list still doesn't give you a reason to like mac better, because all the things a mac can do a PC can do, and there are lots of things a PC can do that a mac can't. :)

*cough, cough* A lot of my reasons are that I feel Macs are easier to understand. I've used PCs and I just have a harder time with that layout. So, as I have said countless times, it just comes down to preference.

And I did say in my post that I didn't agree with all of PCs little "comebacks" but I don't see the point in stating which ones or why because inevitably someone will post why I'm wrong and it'll all come back to perference once again.

ok macnut, it isn't like you need to defend yourself against us... we're not attacking you. ;) What we are doing is stating why we use PC's, and why we think it's better/why it's our preference. :)

And I believe that PC's are better, faster, and easier to use than Macs... and I know you don't share that view. ;)

Not gonna bother quoting.

WINDY ~ I don't get your post. I said numerous times I posted that because of rickyderocher. I honestly don't care what you think, therefore I feel no need to, as you said, defend my view. :D

PC ~ you know I never agree with you so I don't see why you bother posting stuff directed at me that I won't agree with. :-s But, if that floats your boat, I guess it doesn't really matter. But, yeah, as normal, I disagree.

I think I'm going to withdrawal from the little "debate" ya'll have going on, unless, of course, someone says something that blatantly false. :-# I'm shutting up now.

OK Macs fans, here's some reasons why I like PCs over Macs...

1. They are cheaper...
2. You can buy PC software pretty much anywheres in places like Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, etc... (When was the last time you saw MAC software on the shelf of a big retail chain like the ones above?)
3. They are cheap to upgrade and it's easy to get the hardware to upgrade with. (For PC... Just walk into your local Best Buy and you'll find tons of video cards, memory boards, etc... For MAC... uh... can you say mail order?)
4. There's lots of great freeware software for Windows that isn't for MAC... Like Adventure Game Studio.
5. Everybody I know uses PCs, so I can get onto their machines and know how to run it.

well, yes, actually, it's the makers of Mac; Apple. I've heard that they endorse the church of Satan.

Okay I've had many years of experience on both machines. I've started with macs with Mac OS 6 and I had a PC since it's Windows 95 days. I've used them both about the same amount and I can say this: Mac is more for the normal-user and is more feature oriented. Macs actually lost a bit when Mac OS X first came out. What I mean is that they built from a completely new code - which made them have to redo the entire process, whereas Windows NT, 2000, and XP has been on the same track the entire time. That fact made it possible for Windows to be a standard(with more softwares and consistency). Mac jumped around again when it went to its intel processors. Mac always has a better looking and simple easy-of-use interface, because it keeps changing. Windows does not have that flexibility because of the large user-base.

But I think Mac OS X leans a lot on the joe smith user. You can't build a computer to run Mac, you can do that on Windows. There are times when I work on websites and game that I really like my PC a lot. Other times, when I just want to finish some schoolwork or manage my photos, I wish I had a nice Mac laptop.

=D> Well said! Church of Satan? Really I never knew that...
