Mother's Day

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Mother's Day

Post by The Kings Daughter »

So what do you all do for Mother's Day? Or maybe I should say what do you all do for your moms on Mother's day? ;)

I bought my mom the movie Persuasion because she loves it, and often rents it from the library. Might as well known it, I'd say. ;)

I'm also making her a picture collage right now, but it wasn't actually for Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day to Catspaw, SoccerLOTR, Shadowfax and all the other moms on the ToO! \:D/

We made breakfast in bed...stuffed french toast with strawberries. Then for lunch Dad grilled steaks and kabobs, and I made some hot fudge cake. \:D/ We all got a little something for her too. Right now we're all sitting on the porch enjoying the beautiful weather and listening to Watson entertain us. :-

My dad took my mom out on a date on Friday, and today we all chipped in to make her breakfast. \:D/ It was good.

We gave my mom a smelly burning thing that burns little wax things instead of using a candle. \:D/ And a new wall clock that matches the way the kitchen has recently been remodeled. \:D/

We did that earlier in the week... I went over there today to mooch free coffee off of my parents and wish her a happy mother's day on the actual day.

We let my mom sleep in. I gave her an art piece I have been working on. It was a picture of one of her childhood homes. We hung around the house most of the day, but we went out to eat for dinner. It was a pretty good Mother's Day. :)

Well we didn't do much since my mom only got home an hour ago from a weekend trip. But we gave her a card, a Starbucks giftcard and lots of hugs. :)

She left many of us behind. She left us heartbroken. And though we cry now there'll come a time when we'll laugh. Because we'll see her again someday. We'll be with her in heaven. And when we go to heaven she'll be there to greet us. She'll be there to say "Welcome home." -From a poem that SnC wrote about her grandmother

Watson was all tired out after the exertion of being entertaining. :(

our Mother's Day activities were postponed til this coming weekend since Im off at school a good 5 hours away from home. I was able to call her and wish her a happy mothers day. we have a custom made bird house that we will be giving to her when I get home. but eventually I will be giving her a cross-stitch picture that I have been working on for about a year... its something that characterizes my brothers and I perfectly.

mother's day was great. the night before, i bought lots of flowers and hid them in the car. then the next morning, i woke up early before anyone was awake and went and got my boyfriend and we cleaned the balcony and set up a table with a tablecloth and a tea set and arranged the flowers and made iced tea. i put some "mom" cookies on a little plate and set out her present and set up the chairs and then placed electric candles in a row leading from the bedroom to the balcony. after that we napped.. 7am is too early to be up. we woke up again when my parents got up and followed the candles to the surprise. my mum was pretty stoked.
we all sat on the balcony and drank tea and coffee as the sun came out, and the weather was completely perfect. around noon my dad cooked sausages on the grill and made omelets for everyone, and then we lounged on the balcony in the sun for another hour or two and our neighbour downstairs had started playing classical guitar. (i'm not even kidding.)
this made my mum very happy so she brought him some mother's day cake. then me and my boyfriend played video games for a couple hours, and then decided to go on a snack mission. so we walked to the shops and while getting snacks saw the most fantastic people in the store — so many that we decided we needed to sit in the garden chairs at the front and people-watch. we did that for about half hour and then reconvened at the house to all drive to one of our favourite restaurants half an hour outside of town. the drive was nice — it started to rain a little. we got there around 4:30pm and, even though the restaurant opened at that time, it was already packed and there was a line. it's a pretty popular place (because it's full of DELICIOUS). so we hung out for a while and then got to go into the bar side and get appetizers. hilarity ensued, as usual. it was fun and didn't really matter that there were only enough seats for two of us and we kept getting bumped into. after an hour we got a table and feasted.
p.s. THE DESSERT WAS DELICIOUS

it was 9pm by the time we were driving back home. on the way home i saw that i had a message left on my mobile, so i listened to it. it was a casting call requesting that i come in (i'm in the database since i showed up at some other casting call) as they "might have a role for [me] in Baby Geniuses 3". my first thought was WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANYONE MAKE A BABY GENIUSES 3. aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. madness.

anyway, successful mother's day! she was very, very happy. and this morning she told me that she had a dream last night that she spent the day with her mother (who is passed). so she basically had two great mother's days, one in the dream world and another in the waking. yay!
