The Little House on the Prairie books are perfect for beginning readers, Laura's writing style grows with her books...so the book in which she is six would be enjoyed by a six year old, but I still enjoy reading her later books in which she's older, and she's writing for an older audience. :)

I loved the books when I was a kid... the show is decent, I watched it quite a bit when we didn't have cable and one of our local stations had it on all the time. ;) It could definitely be entertaining and amusing and interesting... lots of fun guest stars, too... but yeah, overall not REALLY my cup of tea. ;)

I've seen that one, it is called "The Collection", but of course, I have seen all of them but season nine and two of the last movies. It is a great show and I love it.

I have also read some of the books, but I like to show better.

Okay, so I read the entire series in first grade. I love those books. Now that I look back on that, I'm surprised that I read all them. I also watched all the shows as a kid. I've seen every episode, pretty much. My sister has all the seasons up until 7... Great books and tv show. Thumbs up.

Been a little while since this has been brought up. For some reason I just came across it on youtube last night and have been doing some watching, among other things. I am a history fanatic, so I searched for something about the set and found this. I even learned that Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon had drinking problems. I am not sure how close it is to the big sky movie ranch but we do have some great friends scattered in Calif. AIO is recorded out there. Even Phil Lollar is still out there. Any thoughts from you guys?

I haven't watched them for a while, but when I did I enjoyed them.

This is kind of a cool video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbJMjXqh ... re=related

Except for the fact that 'Pa' is in most of them. ;)

Yes, I suppose. ;)

A lot of times movies that are based after books don't always follow all the details of the book. What were your thoughts as to how they did the shows? Do you like the way they did it or wish it would have stayed closer to the books?

Dude... the TV show was a flop. >_> And unfortunately, it kinda killed any chance at there being actual movies made. *sighs*

A flop? It ran for 9+ seasons. :noway:

I enjoy the TV show for what it is...it diverges widely from the books though. So I just think of them as separate stories. :D

Me too. Thats why I've never had much of a problem with the differences between the books and the TV show.

She left many of us behind. She left us heartbroken. And though we cry now there'll come a time when we'll laugh. Because we'll see her again someday. We'll be with her in heaven. I agree. Little House on the Prairie is one of my favorite tv shows. :D

Same here. I knew that Michael Landon had a drinking problem, but I would have never guessed Melissa Gilbert was a drinker.

Plus her little sister just came out of the closet. \:D/

I used to be shocked at random things that actors do outside of their roles, but basically they are all weirdos so I gave up carring and just enjoy their movies or shows for what they are. \:D/ For instance, Mel Gibson is an awesome actor/director, regardless of him being insane. \:D/

I see the books as separate from the movies- it used to confuse me a lot when I first watched it, but then I finally learned to see them as 2 different entities entirely.

I like a bunch of the shows, but there are some that I don't like...

I've seen about 10 episodes of the show, and love it. It has a nostalgic setting (on the prairie) that makes me love the series; the same is true of Bonanza.

I own all 10 seasons of Little House on the Praire. My younger sister loves them she's 9 yrs old now. I have just about all of the episodes memorized. Some of my friends think I'm crazy to like them, but I don't care. I loved watching them over the years. The 1st time I ever some an episode was with my Grandmom. She bought me "The Creeper of Walnut Grove" on VHS. I have loved them since that day. My Grandmom died when I was 8; so now whenever I watch Little House I think of her. But I have to admit I was pretty disappointed in Season 10.

I have watched this show many many times. I have all 10 seasons on DVD. It is a great show. The cast autobiographies are R Rated. The ones from Nellie and Laura. I will leave it at that.A lot of the crew drank while filming the show.
They are interesting and informative.

The show did change a lot. ML wanted to add more boys and kids to keep it going. It ran for 10 years. There has been other projects since.

I have visited some of Laura's real homes and sites.

I am a big fan of AIO, but I am not Jave Griffin or have ever been on AIO. I am just a huge fan of AIO and Jimmy Barclay. I love Odyssey, and Jimmy rules.
