So Who LOVES Math?!

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

wut.

Algebra II is probably the easiest high school class I've ever taken (I had a ninety-nine average the last quarter... it was ridiculously easy), and Geometry wasn't really hard, but the proofs were annoying because they took so long. Pre-calculus at the moment is interesting and slightly more difficult than previous math courses. All in all, math is pretty cool.

And you never should have.
No, you never should have.
But don't break your back
If you ever see this,
But don't answer that.
In a bullet proof vest
With the windows all closed,
I'll be doing my best
I'll see you soon.

I think math would rank as one of my favorite subjects in school. I enjoy school altogether, but math is expecially challenging and I like the challenge.

Oh, and maybe I should say I nearly failed Algebra 1. Bring on the second one and let's see how I do. \:D/

I don't think I ever took algebra (if I did it wasn't called that). Now though I'm learning about reverse functions and don't know how to do them because we had a substitute for math and she didn't teach us anything, so if anyone knows how to do that, help me!

I like math. It's a class you don't have to study for. :)

Algebra is taken in high school, so depending on what grade you're in you might not've taken it yet. Algebra is something you have to take, though.

I'm in advanced math in 11th grade. I might have taken it.
If I took it it was easy.

My math teacher always says "now we play this game" again for when we're doing equations. She thinks math's a game.

I definitely don't love it, but I don't really dislike it either. As long as I know what I'm doing, it's kind of fun, I guess.

I love all math I've done thus far, which is up to somewhere in between A1 and A2, with the exception of the occasional equation in which X=179/36 and I spend an hour trying to figure out if I can simplify the fraction or not, then I go do the next problem in a minute flat, and I wander around trying to figure out why I'm good at math until I am hit with a fraction.

Our school offers in an order something like this:

Pre
Transition
Algebra 1
Geo
Int Geo
Algebra 2/Trig
Pre Calc
Adv Calc

I did well in math because I do think logically despite my intense desire to be a creative person. Oh well, math is good for quilting.

I randomly think of complex math/physics problems I should solve for no good reason. Like I've been walking my daughter to school up a slight incline while pushing a stroller and 2 kids totaling about 60lbs. Given the angle of the force exerted and the ground and gravity and all that, what is the actual weight/force? But I got as far as wondering it and contemplating, but stopped there. ;)

I do not like math (a.k.a. Algebra), it's too difficult. :boohoo: I prefer more real-life subjects, like History, Geography and Social Studies.

I always did fairly well in math. It wasn't my favorite subject or anything, but it was more enjoyable than writing essays. ;) Math is nice in that 2+2 ALWAYS = 4, unlike the rules of the English language which have so many confusing exceptions. :p

I never liked proofs, but other than that, geometry was fun. I enjoyed Algebra 1 & 2, but did not like advanced math/calculus.

Math is definitely something that is used in real life, so I think it's important to grasp the concepts. People often say that you would never use it, but that's not true. :noway: I've used basic algebra and other mathematical formulas to help me in many of my sewing and cooking projects. ;) Very useful stuff. And even proofs etc. are good for your mind to practice thinking out logical progression and conclusions.
And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

Yeah, the basic maths are helpful in everyday life, the higher ones not so much...
