Election Results - Term 13 Edition!
I know that on other forums, the administrators (if not also moderators) can view the votes of each person on each poll. Catspaw could easily check to make sure the people who PMed the votes did not also vote in the poll. That would be easy enough to check if it were possible to do so here.

If you vote by absentee, your account is locked during the election.xiao wrote:Actually, I have to say, I disagree with the absentee vote business. The poll should be the final result. I'm not trying to be sour here but anyone could garner two votes by saying they'll be absent and just voting anyways... didn't anyone think of that?

And I think the citizins of this board would be honest enough not to cheat. The absentee ballot is a good way to include the members who will simply be unable to log on during the voting period.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. ♡
Absentee voting was started with Shadowpaw when people expressed an interest in voting but were unable to be present for the actual voting period. The database does not show who a member voted for, but it does show if they voted at all, and that has typically been checked to prevent this problem. Of course, usually it isn't this close of a vote! Nonetheless, the results are genuine.xiao wrote:Thanks, Ruthie!Ruthie wrote:
If I hadn't forgotten about voting and then been out of town, it would've been a tie.

On the absentee thing - real elections in real life use absentee to and it generally works just fine....

In real elections, people forgetting to vote during polling hours or to send in an absentee ballot on time is not a valid reason for a recount.

If only slackers were the minority in this country.Pseudonym wrote:Well, it should be. We should all try to accommodate the minority of slackers, so that they can be free to slack! Didn't we have some fun, though? Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said, 'goodbye.' And you were like, 'no, wait.' And then I was all, 'we pretended we were going to murder you.' That was great...
