Ike..

yikes O.o

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

I've always liked things that cause destruction, seeing the effects of what can be done through nature.

I do however HATE seeing what those things do to the people afterwards. I'll be praying. I know some other people that are going to have to go though it. Looks like it might it Louisiana again too if it goes though the gulf. :anxious:

Yeah, we just had family come here because of hurricane Gustov. If Ike goes through Louisiana, they'll probably be coming again.

I'll be praying for you, Lena!

Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Hannah, etc. I hate this season for the South. May God keep you safe!

Well, Hanna hit here with over 100mm of rain this morning. The roads were flooded on the way to church this morning.

Hope all goes well Lena.
I'll be praying for you.

Well, Ike is supposed to be here by about 8 pm. It's not even going to be 1 degree of latitude above us.. one degree of latitude is only 69 miles. So, it will be less than 69 miles north of us. It completely decimated the islands that it went through, destroying thousands of buildings. Haiti was pulverized by it, and Ike was way farther north of Haiti than it will be to us. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We have no wood to board our windows with, and our roof is very old. Our laundry room has turned into our 'shelter'. We'll probably be there overnight.

I don't know when I'll be able to get back on, but I'll try and keep everyone as updated as possible.

Dude, Canada has coasts and is therefore near the exact same oceans as the US. Check a map one day. ;)

I hope that you're safe, Iron and Light. :)

Haha, my county got hit by Ike hard enough to knock most of the power out. Amazingly enough, we actually have power, while most of Mount Vernon doesn't (or so I've heard). So yeah, pretty nasty around here, we have three trees down. :anxious:

We never lost power. :D Which is amazing- because....you're right, most of Mount Vernon did. >_>
*sigh* There's a roofing shingle from our neighbours house in our pool...I really hope I won't have to get it...lolol

We (I'm in Ohio) got hit by Ike too. Yay! ;) Our house has no power. My county doesn't have much power and there are lots of downed trees. Thankfully my grandma has power, and my great grandparents have power. (But my Grandma's pear tree took a beating, and we lost some roof venting and shingles on our house.) (This guy on the radio was saying this all could've been prevented, lol.) During the windstorm, I took my camera out and filmed myself being one of those crazy reporters who stay outside and report when the hurricanes are going right over them! Unfortunately, I deleted it. :( (Though who knows, we might get another one of these crazy wind storms.)

Heh, I can't even check my email at MVNU's website. :(

But at least my branch campus is fine, we still have classes tonight. \:D/

We did get a lot of heavy wind, though. Our power in our place flickered quite a bit but never stayed off for more than a second or two. A lot of the city is or was without power, though. I heard on the news that 90% of the city should all have power, by Wednesday at 6pm or something. \:D/

I did find the MVNU Emercency something or another site... apparently its not on the same servers as everything else... the message there gave me the impression they are completely freaked out. ;)

I hope our internet works at our campus, I know in the past when they've had problems at Main we end up unable to do anything. ](*,)
