Dear Odyssey,
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we have been busy both with real life exams, and busy developing a plan for the future of Hillingdale Haven. Here's what's going on:
We have created a subforum in Hillingdale (currently invisible) called The Padded Room. It will be a place where the rules do not apply in the same way as they do everywhere else on the board. People will be allowed to spam, double post, and conversation post there. This is where the counting, kicking, and bumping threads have gone. Because of a programming issue, The Padded Room is not currently visible, but it should be up sometime tommorrow.
Post count will not be enabled in The Padded Room. This will allow users to have a place to post rampantly without compromising the rules over the rest of the board. The rest of Hillingdale will then be a place for off the wall discussions that still have more substance to them than "Bump!"
Because of their long history on the board, The Count to a Billion and rate the avatar and siggie thread threads will remain in HH. We want to keep these open as long as everyone posts responsibly there.
The heart here is one that wants to allow everyone to have fun on the ToO, in their own way. Spamming should not raise post count, but some people still really want to be able to engage in it. The padded room will provide a place for it to occur, without compromising the heart behind the board rules.
We will also be adding another mod to help mr.whit out in the newly reconstructed Hillingdale. They should be decided upon and initiated within the next few days.
I don't expect these actions to be popular among everybody, but none of our actions here should be done in the interest of popularity, really. We want to do what's best, and what is right for this board. I hope and believe that in doing this, we are accomplishing that goal.
Soli Deo Gloria,
David O
