Haha, same here. My brother is a total Trekkie. I'd watch the original and Next Generation with him, and, I liked it well enough, but never really managed to gather the interest to watch it when he wasn't around (thus, I've not seen any such thing for a dozen years or so ).Laurie wrote:Star Wars for me!! I have never been into Star Trek, which is surprising because my brother loves it.
But yeah, I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, either... but I actually enjoy the original trilogy quite a bit... just not to the degree of dressing in Princess Leia's slave outfit with a Yoda mask for Halloween or something.
Star Trek by far.

Now that's something that people would pay not to see!The Top Crusader wrote: But yeah, I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, either... but I actually enjoy the original trilogy quite a bit... just not to the degree of dressing in Princess Leia's slave outfit with a Yoda mask for Halloween or something.
Star Wars all the way! The little bit of Star Trek that I've seen didn't really appeal to me, though I must admit that if I sat down and watched a few consecutive episodes, I would probably like it better. However, I'm still definitely going with Star Wars!

The thing about watching it, at least the original or Next Generation, is that you have to take it in a rather humourous, campy way... watching it as serious sci-fi doesn't work for me. The more recent editions have been more serious, but it's so much more entertaining to laugh at their outfits and visions of the future.

I'm with Darcie on this one...I love Star Wars, but when I say that I mean the original trilogy. It's just awesomeness!Darcie wrote:Wars!
But only really the originals... and I do have to admit to watching some Star Trek -TNG and Voyager before... mostly in the early 90s... and to having two friends from Girl Scouts with the camp names Jadzia and Dax
Except for a few random episodes and a few of the 1980s' movies (with William Shatner), I haven't had much exposure to Star Trek. And that suits me fine, it's not really my style.
Limiting the criteria slightly, I would vote for Star Trek NTG over the original 3 Star Wars Movies.
However, there are a ton of other catagories between the two that need to be determined:
-Star Trek Movies vs All 6 Star Wars
-All Star Trek Spin offs vs the half million Star Wars novels out there
-Trekkies vs Star Wars fanatics
-Stupid Star Trek video games vs Awesome Lucas Arts games
-Holodeck vs light saber
-Gene Roddenberry vs George Lucas
...trust me, this voting could get a lot more intense
