I was incredibly surprised to see this trailer drop, I had no clue they ended up making another movie I thought the last one didn't do well enough for that.

It didn't do great but it did well considering it was in the midst of the pandemic so I guess they took a gamble on doing another (the last one was also the end of the Godzilla rental to Legendary, I'm not sure if they re-upped for just one more movie or if they have the option for more now after this).

Anyway, I didn't rush out to see it opening weekend but did finally get around to it. I went in with tempered expectations, and that helped my enjoyment I think. I knew it wasn't going to be *anything* like Minus One, and while I thought GvK was too silly, this time I knew to expect more of the same, and I ended up really enjoying it. It's kind of one of those "certainly not a great film, but a really fun film" experiences. I think its doing decently well, so I'm hoping they re-up for another in the series. Minor qualm is this and the last film seemed to focus a lot more on Kong, and I'm definitely a Godzilla fan moreso... so hopefully if there is yet another and they are both in it, Godzilla gets more of the spotlight. He's almost like a guest star like Iron Man was in Spider-man Homecoming or something. More substantial than a cameo but the other character is clearly the main star.
