Saying that is a little like me asking "Do you even have any common sense? It seems to me you polarize and demonize someone who believes differently from you....."
But that would be dumb on my part.

It's a legitimate question. Besides, xaio said to ask questions so I'm asking. If xaio wants to do whatever then that's xaio's choice, I was just wondering.Oba-rai wrote:Saying that is a little like me asking "Do you even have any common sense? You don't have to be so mean. Especially about a question I wasn't asking you.

I'd be insulted if I was asked that.
I'd consider it mean and I felt the need to interject.
I don't mean it personally against you, I just think that's a really harsh question.

I didn't mean it in a mean way at all. I meant do you have any morals? What would they be? It wasn't my intention to be mean or harsh, but if if came across that way I'm really sorry.Oba-rai wrote:I'd be insulted if I was asked that.I'd consider it mean and I felt the need to interject.

What is it with these questions? You seriously think xiao wants absolute anarchy?
No, of course not.
My post was directed at the above two. While I realize that they do not want absolute anarchy, I find it intersting that they find no need for morality. If governing principles for our own lives are not necessary, than why should humanity as a whole have governing principles?
My post was meant to dig deeper at the heart of the issue; I was curious as to how they respond, to see why they found morals unnecessary and yet government and law necessary. I intended my post as a means to learn more of their worldview, not as a fanatical question or a hasty accusation. If it came across this way, I apologize.
However, I would still be interested in an answer.

do you understand sarcasm?
Yes, I do. Normally, with voice inflection, tone, posture, and general mood I can pick out hyperbole and sarcasm rather quickly. Hoever, on the internet, with 93% (approximately) of communication being non-verbal, it can be more difficult to recognize.
This started out as a sincere question, so instead of giving a non-sincere answer to a sincere question, it would we helpful to get a sincere answer, for the same purposes as the creation of the atheist threads.
Edit: I would also like to point out the subtitle of the thread.

Thank you for your sincere and clear answers to my questions, xiao.
Now, if you're still around, here's another one: What, in your mind, are the defining parts of the American and French Revolutions and why did they end differently? Specifically, what factors played roles in their differences?
