If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!
I speak/understand only a very little bit at this point...but I'm in the process of learning the language. I want to become fluent and go to Germany for a few months (not necessarily in that order exactly).
Evil Chick was a MK there for quite sometime and is fluent.

I would highly recommend Rosetta Stone if you are trying to learn the language. And you can learn alot if you go to Germany. I went there this past christmas break with a friend who spent two years there, and between him and the exposure I learned a lot.
Schnell! Schnell! Yay for World War 2 movies where that's almost the only thing soldiers say in German!

I recognize all the words people have said. My dad took German in high school and used to randomly tell me things that I didn't understand. All I know now is Eine, zwei, drei and Volkswagen. Ooh... and kindergarten!

My family is originally German (for those of you who know my last name, this shouldn't come as a surprise) and my Dad knows it, so I know some of the langauge. Couldn't speak it on demand, but I recognize an awful lot of it.
I should be able to speak more German than I actually can. I took three years of it in school, my father-in-law speaks it, and we had a German exchange student. Most of it is gone, sadly.
