Word of the Day

Maladroit

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

I was just going to look up a word and was reminded of an Odyssey episode I haven't heard in a while. \:D/

maladroit \mal-uh-DROYT\, adjective:
Lacking adroitness; clumsy; awkward; unskillful; inept.

Maladroit comes from French, from mal-, "badly" + adroit, from à droit, "properly," from à, "to" (from Latin ad) + droit, "right," from Latin directus, "straight, direct," past participle of dirigere, "to lead or guide."

I listened to that episode recently. I believe it was the last one that Hal Smith recorded. :(

I thought it said in the Complete Guide that Hal Smith passed away between the recordings of "It Began with a Rabbit's Foot....." and ".....It Ended with a Handshake."

Whit: The Best is yet to come. (from "A Prayer for George Barclay" and "Gone.....")

Eugene: Impossible! Prepositions are not words that I end sentences with! (from "Poor Loser")

Arthur Dent: Operation: Thinktank will enslave the human race. Would you like a muffin? (from "Box of Miracles")

Apparently, "War of the Words" was recorded in between those two episodes although it did air first. The guide does confirm that the last episode that Hal Smith recorded was "War of the Words."
