Gaaah! Why ME!?

Ok, so, I got my new computer, and it's working great. It's a hand me down, and it needed fixing up, but it's way better than my old one.

Anyways, I have this SONY DVD Writer/Reader that I use for movie projects. Last night I was burning a regular data CD, and it had an error mid-burn. Now the darn thing won't open, it just flashes it's little light.

I've tried manually opening it with a paper clip, that worked but I still get no reaction. I checked the BIOS, and MYCOMPUTER, and it's still a recognized CD Device on my copmputer. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you close all your programs? Then hit eject?

I prayed for the cd player in my car and it started working...for a short time.

I had this same problem...unfourtunately I never fixed it. Try reinstalling your drivers.

I'm sure you already tried this, but when I had the same problem eventually I shut everything down in frustration and after re-start it opened.

and make sure it isn't Sony... Sony is just generic junk, far better off to buy a LG Multi write or a BenQ... they are the best.

my LG DVD burner is rated to burn CD's at 40x..., it burns at 42x $\:D/$ LG's are the fastest drives out there, and they are good quality.

LiteOn is good, but LG is the best... but some say BenQ is better because of the scan feature, which helps for verification of data on a burn, to make sure that it's not corrupt. LG's are also available for a good price. *goes to check the prices* $37 including shipping
