Well, yeah. The movie set itself up as being science based, with the injections and technology, but then the power of the Giver seemed more mystical.

I don't know, I struggle with stories like that... I either like it to be reasonably logical sci-fi (if that makes any sense) or totally OUT OF THIS WORLD STAR WARS CRAZINESS. The mix of stuff like that always confuses me. :(

Seemingly random bump, but I wanted to acknowledge that my thread has been merged into a previously existing one that was just rediscovered.

I did not realize at the time of my original post that there was already a thread for this movie, because it was from all the way back in 2006! I had no idea production had been held up for so long! :o
