What songs remind you of the characters?

musical association!!

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

What songs remind you of the characters?

Post by twinklebelle63 »

This question's kinda dicey, since the characters are so multifaceted!!
Ben: "What do you want more than anything else in the world?"
Wembley: "To feel."

It's funny that you asked this, because I just listened to a song that I've associated with Connie and Mitch for a couple of years. ;) While I realize that there are many other more worthy ways to interpret the lyrics, it can apply to everyone's favourite couple! ;)

It's Michael W. Smith's "I Believe in You Now" from the Live the Life album. The chorus is particularly applicable.
1st Verse:
Once upon a time
I was faithless, running blind
Thru the Valley of the Lost
So now you find it rather strange
When you hear me claim the name
Of the one who bears the cross
And I say

Chorus:
I believe in you now
A new light is showing me how
I used to walk in the shadows of doubt
But I believe in you now

2nd Verse:
Will there ever come a day
When you follow in the way
Of the truth that sets you free
To where the thunder of a voice
And the echo of a choice
Will bring you to your knees
No longer running thru the night
A conversion to the light
Giving way to disbelief
And you say

Chorus

Hence the wink smiley. ;) I was actually tempted to mention you, but I didn't. :(

The connection that I see is with the lack of trust in Connie and Mitch's relationship, but she finally comes to a point where she feels like she can trust him. She used to "walk in the shadow of doubt" as to whether Mitch was trustowrthy or not, but she later decided that she could believe in him and trust him. The verses don't really apply - like I said, it's more the chorus that I think connects. But perhaps I'm just a lunatic. :anxious: To me (and perhaps only me) it makes sense. O:)

I sorta kinda understand how the chorus of the song Catspaw mentioned could apply to Connie and Mitch, but it might be considered a longshot.

I think this next song reminds me of Mr. Whittaker. It's an old classic that you probably sang in Sunday School if you went to church when you were little. It goes something (but only something) like this:
If you're happy and you know Whit say "amen"...Amen!
If you're happy and you know Whit say "amen"...Amen!
If you're happy and you know Whit, then your life will surely show it,
If you're happy and you know Whit say "amen"...Amen!
God bless you, in Jesus' name!!!! :D
"Then Peter said unto them, 'Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.'" (Acts 2:38)

Are you referring to a specific birthday song? Or something more symbolic, like "If you're crazy and you know it, eat jelly beans"? O:)

Camptown Races, actually. Just cause it's the most used song when reffering to him.

All answers work, however!

"The Great Wishy Woz" reminds me of the song "Jesus Will Still Be There." Not sure who wrote it.
Things change, plans fail,
And you look for love on a grander scale.
Storms rise, hopes fade,
And you place your bets on another day.

When the going gets tough,
When the ride's too rough,
When you're just not sure enough,

Chorus:
Jesus will still be there.
His love will never change,
Sure as the steady rain.
Jesus will still be there.
When no one else is true,
He'll still be loving you.

When it looks like you've lost it all,
And you haven't got a prayer,
Jesus will still be there.
Dottie's plans failed (because of her dad leaving), and she (as well as Metal Guy) were looking for love on a grander scale. The line, "Storms rise," relates not only to the tornado, but to the turmoil in her life. But Mr. I-Am (Jesus) was always there with her.

Edit--I think this song was performed (maybe also written) by Point of Grace.
God bless you, in Jesus' name!!!! :D

when i think of connie and mitch i think of 'always and forever' or 'i love technology' from napolean dynamite. it just seems like they love each other, but they just can't get together, even though they'll love each other 'always and forever.' kind of sappy, but for some reason that's what they remind me of.

The church scene near the end of "Sunday Morning Scramble" reminds me of the song "Here I Am to Worship." I love that song!
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God

You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
God bless you, in Jesus' name!!!! :D

Not the whole song, but certain lines from Ani DiFranco's Served Faithfully remind me of Richard Maxwell. Particularly:

You gotta try to understand
The grandness of the man behind the petty crimes
And let him off easy sometimes

I have only just met
An old, old friend
We've been walking around holding hands
I hope some day he can bend
As far as it takes to understand
And risk breaking open again

How weird. That's the song I associated with that scene, also. It just seemed so perfect since that came to a realization about what church is all about.
