I had very low hopes for my draft prospects seeing how late in the order I was picking, but I'm actually pretty pleased with the end result. :) Big bonus: I scored a starting RB with my very last pick! He went so late because he was initially way down the depth chart, but I saw some analysts saying he had a good chance to move up quickly as the season went on so I took a flyer, and then the Texans decided to go ahead and actually just make him the starter straight off. \:D/ I'm not playing him until there is some performance to review since he's a rookie, but it's great to have a potential major payoff on hand from an instinctive final selection.

My draft results (Picking 7th of 8):
Austin Ekeler (LAC) RB
Patrick Mahomes (KC) QB
Travis Kelce (KC) TE
Aaron Jones (GB) RB
Mike Williams (LAC) WR
Terry McLaurin (WAS) WR

Saints D/ST
Justin Tucker (BAL) K
Michael Thomas (NO) WR
Rashod Bateman (BAL) WR
Drake London (ATL) WR

Looks like both of our 5-0 teams are about to suffer their first losses, and by only a combined 7 points! Close upsets.

Week 16 - at Pack Is Back (Almanzo)
I was looking forward to this opening matchup with great interest. After being a solid foundation for my team last season I had wanted Josh Allen as my QB again this year, but Presler drafted him before me so I went with my second choice of Mahomes. Now here we were starting off the season against each other; I was anxious to see if that contested QB position would end up being the difference in the day. Turns out it wasn't, our QBs actually finished nearly exactly even. But because I had both sides of the Mahomes/Kelce connection I got the better of this round as they came up huge this week to offset low scores by other positions.

Week 16 - at Pack Is Back (Almanzo)
A massive score put up by Aaron Jones combined with some unfortunate duds in AE's lineup led to rolling to an easy victory this week, even though his Defense recorded an unreal number. I was extremely pleased with my lineup's performance here! Mahomes and Kelce came back down to earth, but I had solid numbers from top to bottom, save only one: my D/ST which I can't be second guessing my play of because no one saw that coming, it was a 20 point drop from their dominant showing last week!

Week 3:
Moves:
Dropped Vikings D/ST
Moved Davis off IR
Dropped Smith-Schuster
Dropped Steelers D/ST

I was fully prepared for this to be my first loss; Eugene's roster had been dominant so far and he opened our matchup projected to take it by ten. It ended up being much closer though, and everything came down to Sunday Night Football: all my scores were final, his last player was active. The win would still be his if his RB came in just a couple points above his projection, which the game script seemed to be making a very real possibility, but he came up short!

Week 4:
Moves:
Benched Henderson for Pierce
Dropped Texans D/ST

Week 16 - at Pack Is Back (Almanzo)
Ekeler rewarded my sticking with him despite three poor weeks to start the season by having an absolutely huge day, and Pierce looks to be finding that breakout role I previously mentioned he had the potential for. I had briefly dropped him for a week due to roster management, but he hadn't done much the first two so he stayed off the radar and I was fortunately able to pick him up again just before this climb. My lineup is really coming together here I feel! Now I grant this margin of victory is somewhat misleading as Monty had a player declared out who he didn't get swapped, and had Miles Sanders on his bench who had a monster game this week, but even if he had made that switch I still would have won this matchup by 9 points.

Week 5:
Moves:
Trade with In re Football: Mike Williams for James Conner (AZ) RB
Benched Herbert for Jones

Another absolutely massive score from Ekeler, an equally insane one from Kelce, and big projection overshoots by Pierce, Tucker, and Mahomes made this one of the most comfortable victories of my entire managing career. When I have such a lopsided win like this I always have two simultaneous thoughts. 'Man it feels good to completely dominate like that!' and 'I didn't need anywhere near that many points, I hope the offense saved some for next week in case the matchup is a close one.'

Week 6:
Moves:

My 5-0 hot streak comes to an end as my fear manifested exactly in the possibility that had been pondered. Just 4 of those whopping 78 spare points I had last week would have been great to have here! Projected to be an incredibly close matchup from the start, it sure lived up to expectations. Laura led by what would normally be considered a very safe 16 points going into Monday Night Football where my RB was the only player yet to go. But, that RB was Austin Ekeler who was on an absolute tear of late. He was given a solid projection of 11 points, so he would need to hit over that by 5 to manage a tie, 6 to get me an incredible comeback win. A very tall order, but if anyone could do it this was the guy. He was coming off weeks of 28 and 31 which had shattered his projections by 17 and 19 respectively! I actually firmly believed there was a very real possibility of pulling out the improbable win here. I did not expect it to happen, but I honestly thought there was a genuine chance it could. And there was! Ekeler did finish over his projection, but 'only' by 2. Laura held on for a 3 point victory!

To further show how incredibly even our rosters were, bye weeks and injuries had both of our benches completely decimated this week, no one had really any other options than the lineups we put out. The best alternate move, in hindsight, I could have made would have only gained me an additional 3 points, which would have only managed a tie. Interestingly, that actually would have gotten me the matchup win on bench points, barely, 8-6, because Laura only had a single active position there. But, if she had decided to change that one position out in her lineup, she would have had an additional 2 points, which would have beaten my best possible score by those 2 points. Just an amazingly even matchup through and through!

It all comes down to this for the last seed. Bench Coolers get it if they come back. Otherwise it comes down to tiebreakers.

A fantastic day from top to bottom of my lineup (I don't consider D/ST in that summation because that position is so fickle) including another huge game by Ekeler put me back on the winning side! If this kind of scoring holds this may well be the start of a new streak.

Well this was certainly one of the absolute worst duds of a week I have ever had. I'm not too upset about it since it came in a matchup where my three most important players were all on bye (preventing us from having Contested QB Clash round two), so I was disadvantaged to begin with; might as well have everyone else stink this week too and hopefully get it out of their system. It would have been a tough match even if any of my team had played decently anyway, Presler had multiple positions put up ridiculous numbers this week. He did fail to replace one player who was out though, so who knows how a competitive matchup may have played out. Oh well. Back to full strength next week and looking to get back on track.

Our foundation players are back in action and putting up the kinds of scores we're accustomed to this season. This was a good contest (shout out to AE's Defense recording a mind blowing 26 points!) but I get the better of it led by a huge game from Mahomes coming off the bye.

Once again, several really low scores this week were offset by some really high ones topped by an absolutely massive game from Kelce. Monty's kicker had an incredible day! The matchup should have been closer than it was, two of Monty's players went on IR this week and he didn't get replacements put in. Incredibly, it was actually possible for him to get the win here by only switching out one of the two zeroes; one WR on his bench scored 23 this week, if he had happened to pick that one to play that changes the outcome on its own. If he had gone with any of the other options he still loses, his next best score would have left him needing 13 points from whatever replacement TE he picked up, but none that week scored that high.

That was an absolutely wild comeback to secure the first seed bookworm. Going into the Monday night game you had a 1% chance of winning. 2% going into the fourth quarter. But Justin Herbert did absolutely nothing

This is the season of remarkably improbable late comebacks in fantasy and real games both I guess!

It has been a great season although my record does not reflect it being one. 😂

If you do that and then edit your post, none of us are going to get notified when you do so lol

It's for my own purposes primarily; no other posts have been made here all season so I don't know that anyone else cares. If someone does then they will easily notice when the previously empty post later has a bunch of content in it. Notifications of the previous posts haven't affected thread activity in any way so it seemed prudent to trade off not having one for the final regular season recaps by inserting them there, in exchange for allowing future posts (from here onwards) to be about the current week's outcomes. Presumably these final two will finally trigger some reactions now that they're playoff matchups.

Fair. Personally, the likelihood of me responding to a ToO thread goes up exponentially if I get an email notification of a new post in the thread, so I'm posting this here to keep the conversation going haha

With the events of last night I'm willing to concede given the clear likelihood that Presler would have won had the game played out. ESPN hasn't made any final decisions but looks like the game won't be finished this week.

ESPN will need to handle it somehow so we'll see what they decide and go from there.

Agreed.

Hoping for the best for Damar Hamlin.

Due to the circumstances of Monday's Bills vs Bengals game, ESPN Fantasy Football will officially score fantasy matchups for week 17 and week 18 (if applicable) only after the Bills vs Bengals game is ruled final (either after being played or cancelled). For scoring we will use the official NFL player statistics for the game. Points for Bills and Bengals players will remain as they appear until the game is played or cancelled and will be updated following that time. This may impact matchup results, league champions and final standings for your league. The current matchup period will be extended until Thursday to support this approach. Our thoughts continue to be with Damar Hamlin and his family.

If I understand this correctly it's exactly what I expected them to do. Week 18 will play out essentially in a vacuum with everyone's scores just saved for later reference and when a final resolution for Bills/Bengals is reached the Week 17 results will be updated, then the appropriate matchups for Week 18 will be arranged and the saved scores applied to determine the final results.

Edit: A more detailed explanation was published here.
The current Week 17 matchup period will be extended a total of two days through the end of Wednesday while we make the necessary technical adjustments to support this approach. That means managers will be able to enter their waiver claims for Week 18 starting Thursday morning. Waivers will then process approximately 48 hours later than your usual league deadline. For the majority of leagues, that means your players will be added to your roster overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

What you need to know

• By advancing the matchup week, matchup winners for Week 17 will appear to be determined, despite the status of the Bills-Bengals game still being uncertain.

• Matchups will not be considered final until the official conclusion or cancellation of the Bills-Bengals game as deemed by the National Football League.

• Should the game be played, an update to Week 17 statistics will be processed shortly after the game and the winner of the matchup will be determined accordingly, if applicable, regardless of when the Bills-Bengals game is played.

• Should the National Football League officially cancel the game, we will finalize Week 17 matchups using the official NFL statistics for Week 17.
