The Town of Odyssey

With a bittersweet feeling in my heart, I would like to invite you to the BEST OF EUGENE listening party!

This listening party is in honor of the late Will Ryan, the voice of Eugene Meltsner. In celebration of Will and the character he brought to life, we'll be playing many fan-favorite classics, all featuring the lovable resident genius himself! Because there are so many great episodes with Eugene, this will be a TWO-DAY event (details for each event below). Hopefully, this will allow more people to participate!

SOMETHING NEW: Rather than using Odyssey Chat for this event, we will be using our own custom chatroom directly connected to the Odyssey Moments Live Player. This means you'll have to connect to the chatroom via the live player page to participate in the conversation.

While there are many more wonderful Eugene-centric episodes, we couldn't possibly play them all, so we opted to stick with the classics and go through Eugene's early days.

While it is a little sad not to use Odyssey Chat, we (as in Eugene and I) wanted a chat interface more customized to our needs, something more inviting, interactive, and user-friendly.

That makes sense, it just always seemed like these events were a great way to introduce our Chatroom to a wider userbase who could return if they wanted even when a listening event wasn't happening.

Aww, what a sweet idea, and it's a great list of amazing Eugene episodes. I hope it goes well.

This is true. However, most people who attend listening parties don't realize the ToO chatroom is a different (separate) website. They think it is a part of the player, so they connect to Odyssey Chat through the player page when revisiting. Aside from that, out of all the events, we've only had 2 (that I can think of) people become regulars on the chat (Ritz and baysimp). And I don't think they have accounts on the board. So, the way I see it, the reach isn't converting enough to consider it a significant loss.

Day One is underway!

Thanks to all who attended today! I've never had so many things go WRONG at one of these things, but you all were good sports to be patient and persevere! We had a great time! I was only mildly stressed the entire time.

On an up note though, the turnout (at least for the first while) was comparable to the Christmas party back in December! So that's pretty cool!

I will sadly miss most of Saturday's, but I'm coming to the start and will stay as long as I can!

You've had quite a streak of good streams before any major issues. That is a testament to how great you are at your job. I enjoyed listening to episodes that I haben't had in my rotation in quite a while

I'm not gonna be able to make it today. I have a whole ton of schoolwork to do. I'd just make my school up tomorrow, but we have a power outage scheduled then. Tuesday was really fun though.

Really?! I must have missed that! That is so special! Thank you for mentioning that, it warms my heart knowing she was listening as well. :,) Katie also told me Chris Anthony was listening for some of it too!

It was wonderful having Katie listen with us for nearly the entire event! And then chatting with us this evening was so fun! She truly loves the fans.

Although Will Ryan isn't here with us, he still brought us together today and put a smile on our faces through his music and his role as Eugene Meltsner. And that is truly special.

Thank you for joining me in celebrating his life and the impact he made on our lives through his work. We all miss you so much, Will! #ForeverEugeneMeltsner
