Anyone going to see this?

It doesn't interest me a ton (even though it should on paper), but I haven't used my movie pass thing since Spider-man (or was King's Man after that?) and I want to get my money's worth for the annual pass, so I'm debating seeing that or Spider-man a second time later this week when I have some spare time. I guess I get Tom Holland either way? My inclination is to see something I haven't already seen once, but I just saw they announced the bluray release for No Way Home to be mid-April, I was hoping it'd be sooner. :(

I like these kinds of follow the clues movies and this one looked like it could be fun so I was planning to definitely check it out at some point, but wasn't expecting to get out to see it while in theaters. My brother just decided he was going to go though and asked if I wanted to come so I said why not.

I liked it! I am not familiar with these games in an any way so I can't speak to what kind of adaptation it is, it seems fan reaction is mixed, but just as an action adventure treasure hunt movie I thought it was very enjoyable.

This totally could have been National Treasure 3, I was expecting to get general similarities in vibes to those movies, but it was actually dead-on. Except for the two big action sequences which went all the way into over-the-top video game action. Which I'm not complaining about in any way, that was still really fun, it just completely broke the National Treasure feel that had been going on up to that point because those movies stay grounded.

It looks like fun and I wouldn't mind seeing it in theatres just because I haven't see a movie in theatres since Spiderman, and it looks like a good big-screen movie. However, it doesn't look like a movie that I absolutely must see, so I might not get motivated enough to make plans and leave my house and make the drive and all those things. ;) - from Feb. 23

BUMP

I just saw Uncharted tonight and really liked it! I noticed that it was recently added to Amazon Prime (at least in Canada) and remembered wanting to watch it. I like heist/adventure movies and this was a fun one. I know it was based on a video game, though I'm not familiar with the game at all. The style clearly was designed to still have a video game look or feel to it, which added to the unrealistic adventure aspect to it - but not in a bad way. The plotline was clearly ridiculous and some big action sequences were far beyond credulity - but it's that kind of story. It's supposed to be outlandish, not super realistic, so it doesn't bother me that it's like that. If this was a story of a true archaeological expedition or something I would feel differently. ;) Tom Holland really comes across as a very likable character, which is part of the charm of the movie, and the dynamic of the two main characters was fun.

They were clearly setting up a sequel, even before the scene that basically seemed like it was from the next film, and I will happily watch it whenever it comes out - not for a couple of years, I assume, since this is a 2022 release. I might even try to do it in theatre, since this kind of stuff can be more fun on the big screen.

I'll have to check US Amazon, or whatever other streaming services. I want to see it but not actually pay money to see it. \:D/

Yeah, that's how I felt too. I hope you can find it as I'm guessing that for the price of free you'll enjoy it. It's hardly an instant classic. It is fun without being stressful, which is just what I wanted to watch.

I enjoyed the movie. The plot holes are larger than the [spoilers] they see and [spoilers] with a helicopter but it was a fun romp.

Yeah, it's one of those movies that if you insist upon everything being plausible and realistic then you should just skip it, but if you can just enjoy the fun and not worry about the feasibility, then it's worth the watch. Luckily for me, I am willing to suspend my disbelief for this kind of thing.

I really dislike this movie because it is nothing like the games and is kind of a disservice to them.

If it wasn't Uncharted then maybe, but it's supposed to be Uncharted, something this movie absolutely is not.

I guess it was to my advantage that I'm not at all familiar with the games, beyond "they exist." ;) Sometimes that happens - the more familiar with the source material you are, the more disappointment with the product. I've had that happen to me with many books made into movies.
