The Town of Odyssey

I know this is a little late but I was out of town for the weekend and didn't have a chance to post this until now. It recently came to our attention that the ToO lacked a very necessary piece of town pride: A FLAG! So the Town Council decided to eradicate this horrendous offense against our Town and hold a flag making contest! And what better time to hold this event than for the ToO's birthday!! Everyone is invited to send in a design for a flag. After a set time period we will have a town referendum to decide what shall become the very first official Town of Odyssey flag!!


RuLeS:

• Can be made in any way. Digital, hand sewn, drawn, painted, etc.
• Up to 3 entries per person.
• Council Members are allowed to enter but are not eligible to win the Council favorite award.
• If you are submitting a digital image: please make the dimensions no smaller than 550x345.
• If you are submitting in another format: please make your image as clear as possible.

How To Design A Great Flag: Good Flag vs. Bad Flag

pRiZeS:

• Everyone who participates will receive $50 ToO dollars!
• 2 winning prizes will be awarded; $500 ToO dollars for the flag that wins the referendum and $500 dollars for the favorite flag of the Town Council!

All flags must be PM'd to Jehoshaphat, by Tuesday, April 26, 2016


OtHeR:

• The flags will be kept anonymous until after voting occurs.
• Depending on how many entries are received, there will be two rounds of voting. The top three (or four depending on ties and close voting) will go to the second round to ensure the best flag wins. This way people who didn't vote for either of the top three will have a chance in deciding the official flag.

Unofficial list of design ideas for anyone to use:

• O's because of Odyssey
• Ships because of a pun on Homer's Odyssey
• Otter because of the Bank of Otters.
• Pawprints because of Shadowpaw and Catspaw
• Houses because the Town of Odyssey.
• Cats because of Catspaw and cats are the Internet's animal
• The emoticon because many places that aren't the ToO don't have it.
• Three-stripes in a row because that is what many flags are.

If you so choose you can post you extra flag here for others to edit.

The image format is svg, so it is resolution independent. Inkscape is an decent svg editor in case you need one.

I'm looking forward to giving input on this, but don't know if I'll be entering a design of my own as I am not artistically creative in any way.

If I had ideas I could try to do them myself. I didn't mean I don't have the artistic ability to act on ideas. I don't; but before even getting to that problem I meant I don't have the creativity to form an idea in the first place to fail attempting to render artistically.

=o It's finally here. How did I miss this topic? I only have one done.. Perhaps I'll do another.

I currently have only 2 people who have entered flags, so keep them coming!

An idea actually came to me, and I managed to throw together a decent mock-up.

There are only 5 more days to submit a flag for the contest! Get them in now to take part in this historic ToO event.
