Jack Chick?

Post by The Mysterious »

What is the problem with Jack Chick? I really don't know much about him.
Some people like him, some people don't. Is he one of them "hate" people?

The problem with Chick Tracts (since that's really the question you're asking) is that they present an incredibly fundamentalist viewpoint of Christianity that treats unbelievers as either imbecilic sheep who can be easily converted or as evil dunderheads who try to beat up Christians all the time and can be beaten with simple "true Christian" solutions. Not only that, but the tracts usually have very judgmental and even bigoted views—for example, anyone who reads Harry Potter is probably possessed by a demon, and the Roman Catholic Church is a messenger from Satan. Their problem, in short, is that they are not about reaching out to people with the love of Christ; they're about beating people over the head with an ideology, and an ideology that's utterly ridiculous even to other Christians.

He's a crazy nutter. Good for a laugh, though.

A lot of their views on modern-day Satanism and them doing tons of human sacrifices on Halloween and such was all just the basis of one guy who wrote a book claiming to have been a Satanic high priest but later said, "lol no." And I think a lot of their anti-Catholic stuff was just the word of some Alberto guy.

I totally got a Chick tract handed to me when I was downtown once. \:D/ I was with my Catholic friends at the time, which made it extra awkward. :-

I've never been given a Chick Tract before, but I really hope that if I am, I'm wearing my Gryffindor t-shirt. \:D/

I didn't even know they were still really a thing. >_> Used to see them all the time in the late 80's/early 90's.
