Ask The Marvin

That's right.

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Ask The Marvin

Post by Marvin D. »

As an early (or not, depending on when I get around to it) Christmas present/downer, I will record a bad-quality, boring podcast in which I answer whatever (read: those which I feel like answering) questions you send my way, whether via private message, public post, Skype, email, smoke signal, etc. You have until whenever I feel like I've waited enough to ask, and then I shall record and upload it at some point in the near future. So if you enjoy listening to one person talk for ten minutes, then you should ask me a question \:D/

Can we send you questions by Semaphore?

*high fives you for even knowing what semaphore is* (it really is one of the coolest words =))

I can't say I know you all that well, I have actually gotten to know you better through radgeek than through you, maybe we can change this. What is life like in your area of Africa? I really would love to go to Africa some day. It really seems like a fascinating place with a mix of culture unlike anywhere else in the world.

Hey, did you get my smoke signal, Josh?
It's been awhile, hasn't it?

Don't believe a word she says :(

Sure; just don't expect an answer you can actually comprehend \:D/

I've got a decent amount; some of them will take me a long time to answer since I can ramble. I'll probably release two episodes/podcasts/audio links/whatever, so go ahead :p

Why are you so sarcastic?

Do you take this question as sarcasm?

Do you take this question as sarcasm?

Do you like plants?

Would you like to see a new plant?

Did you say yes to both?

If you did, here you go. *Pushes you down on your face*

Ta-da.

Face plant.

Are you as sarcastic/annoying in real life as you are in person? :P

What's the most common misperception people have about living in Africa?

All right, everyone can stop holding their breaths now and take a listen to what I recorded. I've put it up on Dropbox because that was easiest for me, so no complaints, peoples :x Also, I took the liberty of dividing it into two parts, even though they aren't equal. In total, the podcast is about 70 minutes, I believe.

The first part has me answering the questions IrishTiger, Christian, radgeek, and Joyfully asked. So if you want to listen to me briefly lecture on the subjunctive mood, talk about just why I'm a Catholic Universalist, and explain more about what I write. .you might want to listen to that one first. But, if you'd rather find out which fictional female character would be my girlfriend, how I'd cause the universe to implode, and what it's like taking a shower with a 1.5 liter bottle of water, the second part might be more of your thing. In that one, I spend a huge chunk of time answering Limerick's question and explaining my history, and also answer the questions Mercy, Sam, JP, and Sapphire asked \:D/

So yeah, go ahead and count how many times I say "uh," listen to how weird I sound when I'm sleep-deprived and trying not to wake up my cousin, and make fun of my strange accent after you listen right here. You're welcome.

P.S. I totally just noticed that I said "slash" really oddly :-k

I cannot tell you how much I loved this. x]

You picked the perfect time to post this. Mom just gave me a long list of cleaning chores to do, in preparation for having people over tomorrow night for New Year's; I didn't have anything in particular to listen to, but then I saw this and went, "YES!" And you amused me for the next 70 minutes. I loved every minute. :D

Through my earphones. =) I enjoyed that, next to Limerick's, you spent the most time on my questions. :D And then you spent all of 5 seconds on Sam's questions. xD

A dozen questions does require a decent amount of time. Unless, of course, they're like Sam's and lack substance :-
