An Idea for an episode in Album 57

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

An Idea for an episode in Album 57

Post by Woody »

I think AIO should do a tribute of sorts to Andy Griffith in Album 57, considering he was Whit's favorite actor. Discuss!

Would you have a lovable sheriff come to town, or a town drunk? Would it take place in Odyssey? Or did you mean something like a cameo where Connie walks into Whit's office and knocks over his bookshelf and picks up a signed photograph?

Something like the second one you mentioned. Or maybe Whit is upset about Andy's death, something like that.

Autistic character this time!

Someone who'd want to get involved with Whit's adventures.

Maybe a new villain who wants to take over Odyssey & and the entire world.

The return of....

I've been thinking... Could it be that, in mentioning Andy Griffith in "Hold Up" (I'm not sure if it's mentioned anywhere else...), they were alluding to Hal Smith's role as Otis Campbell, on "The Andy Griffith Show?"

Here's the quote, as well as I can remember it:
Hank Murray: "An autographed picture of Andy Griffith?"
Connie: "He's a big fan."
Eugene: "Very big."

Just a thought.

I suppose that could be. I did know about that connection, and I'm also rather amazed that Hal could be Whit or the town drunk. It's kinda weird to think about.

The mistaking Odyssey as "Mayberry" by Kelsey Smith-Hammer in "The Fifth House on the Left" and the episode title "Pokenberry Falls, RFD" were also references to the Andy Griffiths show.

And yes, "Hold Up!" was the most blatant shout-out to the show.

Yeah, I knew there was another with a police duo reference. Weren't the two trains engineers in TGRC, Part 12 also a reference, since they sounded the same, and one was named Barnie?

Ah, I remember that, now that you mention it. I never realized there were so many.

I've watched The Andy Griffith Show plenty, as an old show fan. And it would be nice to have a bigger tribute to the show. It certainly would make for a good episode. Though whether it would a crossover, or a cameo or something, I don't know. And also, no one could play the actual characters, since they wouldn't live up to them.

And the people who used to play the characters on "The Andy Griffith Show" are almost all dead, except for Ron Howard. An I'm a big fan of "The Andy Griffith Show" as well, Joy. Barney's funny.

I haven't seen the show, but I have watched the Partridge Family because of Dave Madden. It's so strange when you see AIO people in other places.

Or, in my case, since I've been watching The Andy Griffith Show for longer than I've listened to Odyssey, hearing Otis on AIO.

Focus will refuse because Andy Griffith was a socialist commie.

But yeah it was really only Hal Smith Whit that was an Andy Griffith fan. >_>
