Here's the place for discussing music, plays, YouTube videos, and any other media that doesn't quite fit in the other sections of Harlequin Theatre.

Hey people! A few months ago, Britt Nicold came out with her new album called Gold, in 2009, she came out with The Lost get Found, and in 2007 she came out with Say It. I wanted a place were we could discuss her lyrics and the style of music that she chose, so here is the place!!

I love words. I love to sing them and speak them and even now, I must admit, I have fallen into the joy of writing them.

I've only listened to The Lost Get Found album:) The Lost Get Found, I really was impressed with. I confess I've listened to it quite a bit! Have Your Way, and Walk On The Water I believe have good messages as well! However, I've been disturbed by songs like, Headphones(which tells us to listen to music when we hate our lives? How We Roll also falls into this category, for me.), Glow(Writing us up as superheros and rebels. True we are in a war, but it expands on WE are unstoppable, or better than, almost.) Like A Star is the song of a girl who has fallen in love with a guy, and is thinking bucketloads of romantic thoughts! Not God-glorifying, but rather focused on the 'wants/desires', if you will, of a person. And I don't know about everyone else, but as a teen girl, this is the last thing I need to enter my mind! o.O She has some good stuff, but I feel that it's approached from sort of a worldly point of view almost.

My thoughts on Britt Nicole.

I've only heard the 'godly' songs from her, (The Lost Get Found, Hanging On, Walk On the Water, All This Time, etc.) and I liked them, especially that last one. I must admit that I don't think her voice always sounded very good when she would hit the higher notes; but that's my opinion.

I should listen to some of the other songs and decide how they measure up.

Till the end of the line.

I partially agree, but I feel that Britt has a nice balance in her work. Many, no, not all, but many of her songs portray a powerful Christian message. It must be quite difficult to be a Christian Contemporary artist in the 21st Century, because I know that she's trying to appeal to more than "just Christians". I'm sure she wants to be more mainstream, not limiting herself to only one particular genre. But the only way for her to do that is through expanding a bit in her lyrics. She is one of the few female labeled "Christian" artists that I honestly admire for attempting to blend in to today's culture (and reach out to a larger group of fans) without compromising her Biblical messages.

On another note, this is my favorite song by Britt :) I cried the first time that I heard it. It is quite beautiful.
