Zombie in South Beach!

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Zombie in South Beach!

Post by EK »

Whaaaaaat!?

So did anybody hear about this? Some guy in Miami apparently stripped down naked and started savagely eating some homeless guy's face off. The police told the guy he would shoot and the guy just kept eating this guy's face and didn't stop until he was dead.

Tell me that doesn't scream zombie. That's probably why the cop shot him instead of tased him, this cop saw 28 Days Later, he knew what was going to happen if he didn't shoot the guy. ;)

Moral of the story: don't do drugs or you'll end up losing your face or devouring someone else's! \:D/

This is some of the worst news of the year. The cop is the only good character in this story.

I heard about this just this evening. When some of my friends mentioned a zombie attack in Florida I was real skeptical....but this guy is insane. But I kind of wonder why people passing by didn't do anything.

Yeah apparently it's a product of one of these designer drugs that supposedly replicates the effects of cocaine or meth or something, the bad thing about these drugs is that they're legal, if you're over 18 you can buy them in stores. I know a lot of soldiers that smoke this stuff called spice that's basically synthetic weed, they're legal because they market them as incense or "bath salts" in the case of the synthetic coke/meth. Horrible, especially because the FDA doesn't test them for the side effects so any college kid that knows a bit of chemistry can create these and sell them under the guise of a normal household product.

When I saw this topic the 1st thing that came to my mind was Chris Bosh.

But after reading the article I was reminded that sin will take a person farther than they could ever imagine.

Our area is having a ton of problems with these so-called bath salts. There have been a lot of articles in the paper about them.
newspaper article wrote:At (local hospital), emergency room physicians are dealing with about 50 patients a month experiencing negative side effects from the use of bath salts, said Dr. Scott Just, medical director of emergency services.

"The only thing that compares to that (in terms of number of patients) that we see is alcohol, but nothing else compares in terms of illegal substances," said Just, adding that the effects of the drug are more severe than anything he's seen in 13 years at the hospital. He has seen patients who need permanent psychiatric care after abusing the drug. Other patients have had to live in assisted-living facilities, and he's seen worse.

"There's certainly psychosis, hallucination, delusion, paranoia, agitation and aggression," he said.

"We've seen deaths from this stuff; liver failure, renal failure, kidney failure, respiratory failure. The effects are so severe, but it's so addictive, it's hard to stop."

Most patients admitted to the hospital report addiction after the first use, he said, and treating someone who has overdosed is difficult because the drugs are constantly changed to circumvent laws.

"We rarely know what we're treating or what the active ingredient is," he said. "There's certainly no medical studies on it. It's not been tested. We have no idea what the long-term effects are."

The drug can cause hallucinations, paranoia and delusions, and behavior such as running into traffic while on the drugs isn't uncommon, Just said. Users often have elevated body temperatures, which could lead to organ failure and often to a sensation of being on fire, which often leads to stripping naked.

"It's like pulling your skull open, pouring gasoline on your brain, and setting it on fire, is how one user described it," said Bill Harlow, a substance abuse counselor, who estimates that at least 40 percent of his patients have tried one of the drugs. "This is the worst drug I've seen in my career. It's an epidemic."

They've been talking about making bath salts illegal here, but I don't know if it's gone through yet.

Honestly as anti-government as I am, I hope they do make the stuff illegal...if people really want it they can buy it from a hustle man, but selling it in the corner store is simply unacceptable, kids can buy this stuff (kids being legal adults but...still kids).

Why billions of people have been arrested or fined for marijuana but this stuff is completely legal is seriously beyond me....seriously.

In VA, they've tried to ban it, but it's so changeable in the makeup, that the producers have tweaked the formula and gotten around the law again. :x

For making these synthetic things illegal you really have to make a generic law, like some cities are doing like mine...says something along the lines of "illegal to use or make anything designed to immitate illegal substances or their effects". But it's frustrating--I wish they'd just have the ability to regulate these things. This drug is definitely one of the worst--not only does it make you do extremely horrible things, but it has permanent effects as well.

Instead of making laws that keep stupid people from creating drugs, let's make laws against stupid people creating children. In 30 years, the problem would be solved. :anxious:

I'm obviously being sarcastic, but it really is stunning all the children in America being born to parents in sleazy relationships, living in ghettos and off welfare. Such cases are rampant in my city. My parents own three rental properties, and TWICE have the police taken our tenants (separate cases) to jail for drug dealing in the house WITH CHILDREN PRESENT. I think the kids ended up going to grandparents.

Anyway.

True story \:D/ {sigh}

And sadly the grandparents aren't the greatest option--they raised the kids that ended up dealing drugs. I wish they were screened a little more before the kids were handed to them. One of my best friends can speak from personal experience on that--it's not good. Kids see WAY too much nowadays. And unfortunately, if the kids are left there and not put in to a good home, or at least have good role models, they end up in the same situation as their parents. Such a frustrating situation. One reason I'm so big on adoption for kids like that. :-k
