Here's the place for discussing music, plays, YouTube videos, and any other media that doesn't quite fit in the other sections of Harlequin Theatre.

Music Suggestions

Post by Monty »

I have recently come into a sum of money that relies heavily on iTunes gift cards, and need your help in how to spend it! (App suggestions will be accepted as well, but I'm mainly looking for music.)

Music I already have and enjoy includes:

Dave Thompson
Cody Dunbar
Disney/Epic movie soundtracks such as Pirates and LotR
Doctor Who soundtracks
Mark Schultz
Chris Tomlin
Jeremy Camp
David Crowder Band
Newsong
Casting Crowns
Matthew West
Hawk Nelson
Switch foot
Above the Golden State
Matt Maher
Steven Curtis Chapman
Third Day
Mercyme
Brandon Heath
Tobymac
And sometimes Red.

Thanks for your help!
It's been awhile, hasn't it?

SKILLET. \:D/

In all seriousness, have you ever heard of Abandon? They're an excellent pop/rock group. House of Heroes is also good.

Skillet is a bit too...rocky for my tastes. I like their song "Awake and Alive," though.

I do like a few of Abandon's songs! Thanks!

I will look at House of Heroes when I have my iPod tomorrow.

Any type of music specifically? Sacred? pop? Doesn't matter?

It doesn't really matter. I'll listen to every suggestion.

Okay. I know that Glee has done some really cool songs and covers of songs. I like the Christmas special they made called "Extraordinary Merry Christmas". They also did a cool arrangement of "Santa Claus is coming to town".
I don't necessarily listen to certain bands; I just stumble on certain cool songs.

Some songs that I list may not necessarily convey my spiritual, moral, physical, or ethical beliefs. My standards allow me to listen to certain songs that some may not allow them to. Please do not grate me for listening to any of these types of songs. Please do not call me a "fan" of any one of these composers. Listen to your own discretion.

Taylor Swift - Sparks Fly
Hot Chelle Rae - Tonight, Tonight
Yanni - Santorini
Glee (cover) - Don't Stop Believing
Mannheim Steamroller - Joy to the World
And if I think of more, I'll mention them

Have you listened to any of the songs on their most recent album Until We Have Faces? "Not Alone," "Best Is Yet to Come," and "Hymn for the Missing" are very mellow and beautiful. "Who We Are" is a more rocky, anthemic song, but you might want to give it a try too.

The Almost 'Monster Monster' album... more specifically, "No I Don't", "Hands", "Hand Grenade", and "Monster". The last one seems depressing, but just listen to the whole thing before you make a decision. \:D/

"Monster" is awesome. Buy it. Now.

BraveSaintSaturn is pretty good. If you like indie/rock/punk/electro. Seriously.

If you want some awesome indie worship, Sky Like Fire is a good band.

Kutless is a wonderful Christian band.

Relient K - Always a great listen with their plucky, uplifting lyrics. ^_^
Owl City - Excellent sound, excellent lyrics. Don't like Fireflies? Listen to some other songs.
Portal 2 Soundtrack - All three volumes are free for download on the website!! The music is spectacular.
Port Blue - Even if you don't like Adam Young's Owl City project, his ambient music is fantastic.
Deas Vail - I've gained a recent fondness for this band as of late. Poke around some of their albums.
House of Heroes - I cannot recommend their album The End Is Not The End enough. It's incredible. (Also, check out their "Lovesick Zombie" single!)
