Favorite Newsboys Album
So what's everyone's favorite's? You can select your top 3 favorites.
My personal favorite is Thrive. Every single song is absolutely perfect and absolutely awesome and has that signature newsboys sound.
In 2nd place, is a tie between On Fire (PT) and GO (& GO Remixed)
In 3rd place, is a three-way tie between In The Hands Of God, Step Up To The Microphone, and Take Me To Your Leader.
And then 4th place is Going Public, Devotion, and Adoration
All of these are good albums though, no matter what their rating.
Thoughts?

What about Born Again? That's definitely my favorite.
"Death's got an Invisibility Cloak?" "So he can sneak up on people. Sometimes he gets bored of running at them, flapping his arms and shrieking..."
"And now the spinning. Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile."
"It unscrews the other way."

Whichever has Tait as the vocalist.
Wasn't a big fan until he came onboard, but they certainly have had a few good songs over the last couple decades.

That would be Born Again. Best album ever, in my opinion.

Well, I wanted to do a poll for the best newsboys album. But since Tait's sound is so different, I decided not to include his albums here. And since they have only released 2 albums (and a Christmas ep), I figured it would be too soon to do a poll for them.
And in NO way am I saying I don't like Tait's newsboys. They are awesome! I like the "old" newsboys better by a little, but only a little.
So if you could vote and give your thoughts on the pre-Tait albums...

Oh, I get what you're saying. Thanks for clarifying.

Take Me To Your Leader is the best album, hands down.
Late 90's rock is the best.

he/him | a little stinker.
Adoration. Definitely a big fan of Newsboys before Tait came along.
Go, Devotion, and Thrive. Adoration was pretty good too.
I haven't really heard anything pre-2000s though, except Shine: The Hits.
My opinions have probably changed since I last listened to these however (it's been a while).

If I had been a big fan prior to Tait joining I'm sure I'd prefer the older Newsboys, even if I liked them with Tait as well. But..... as a die hard DC Talk fan who liked Tait the best of the solo projects after they split, I can't help but really like them better now.
Not that they were bad or anything, just never really appealed to me specifically. They were pretty big when I was in youth group, though.

I'm curious if Michael Tait wrote Born Again mostly, or there was substantial input from the other members.
lol...Miracles is such a Muse wannabe.

I just heard that whole album for the 1st time recently. Really good!Steve wrote:Take Me To Your Leader is the best album, hands down.
I hadn't either, until recently. You should check out Take Me To Your Leader and Step Right Up To The Microphone. I didn't think they would be that great, and they were awesome! Going Public was pretty good too, but it has an older version of Shine that bugs me. But other than that, good.ric wrote:I haven't really heard anything pre-2000s though, except Shine: The Hits.
Then you should check out Peter Furler's solo album, On Fire. It's in the poll, cause it sounds so much like the newsboys before Tait.Shadowfax wrote:Definitely a big fan of Newsboys before Tait came along.
So, which albums did John James do again?
Everything up until Step Up To the Microphone. Peter stepped in on that album, though he sings a lot on Take Me To Your Leader.ric wrote:So, which albums did John James do again?
And Born Again is a good album. Except "Way Beyond Myself" and "Mighty to Save."

I thought that Miracles was one of the best songs on the album.ric wrote:lol...Miracles is such a Muse wannabe.
What does everybody think of Peter Furler's solo album, On Fire?
Yes, but it's pretty much trying to sound like an amazing popular band called Muse.AIOCREFan wrote:I thought that Miracles was one of the best songs on the album.ric wrote:lol...Miracles is such a Muse wannabe.

Now, On Fire is something I might get. I love Peter's voice.

What's wrong with those?Steve wrote:And Born Again is a good album. Except "Way Beyond Myself" and "Mighty to Save."
The only pre-Tait Newsboys that I've heard is "He Reigns", "I Am Free", and the song they did for Jonah: A Veggietales Movie.

"Way Beyond Myself" sounds like it got puked out of a Disney Channel show. The lyrics are horrific. The only part remotely awesome is the Jeff Frankenstine vocoder moment. "Mighty to Save"? Because the song is lame. I don't care who does it, it's awful.TigerintheShadows wrote:What's wrong with those?Steve wrote:And Born Again is a good album. "Way Beyond Myself" is a good song, but certainly not the best on the album. And the lyrics are horrific? Totally confused. "Mighty To Save" is a fabulous song, granted it's been redone too many times. How can you say it's awful? Praising God for saving us is certainly not awful!Steve wrote: "Way Beyond Myself" sounds like it got puked out of a Disney Channel show. The lyrics are horrific. You really should check out more of their stuff. Those songs are great, but the newsboys had so many great songs you should listen to. If anything, at least listen to "Shine" and "Breakfast".TigerintheShadows wrote:The only pre-Tait Newsboys that I've heard is "He Reigns", "I Am Free", and the song they did for Jonah: A Veggietales Movie.
Everybody should say which 3 albums they voted for and why they voted for them. Like to hear thoughts from fellow newsboys fans.

I'm with you, AIOCREFan...I don't see what's lame about Mighty To Save. Is it overdone? Perhaps, but that doesn't make it "lame".
There's a Newsboys song called "Breakfast"? Such a win.
