Suggest Music for AE!

Post by American Eagle »

I'm sick of listening to the same music over and over, so does anyone have suggestions? ;)

Some music I like... I only have one guideline: no rock backbeats. Can you think of any of your favorite songs that I may like? \:D/

lol, most of those are straight-up rock, sis. ;) I'll take a second listen to Lux Aeterna, A Drop in the Ocean, Jar of Hearts, Losing Your Memory (digg this guy's voice) and Someone Like You. Thanks for all the suggestions!! I enjoyed the long list.

You listen to rap, bro? This I did not know... lol.

Wait, so, it's just piano music? :P I did think that song was pretty good.

Note: From now on, I'd prefer it if most of the songs were... Christian ("Blessings") or epic ("Time"). No random romancey songs. \:D/

I really like the first movement of the "Holberg Suite" and "Last Spring" by Edvard Grieg.

I'll list some of the ones I enjoy listening to, warning though, some of them might be quite a few years old. ;)

People Need the Lord - Steve Green
El Shaddai - Michael Card
Why - Michael Card
Come to the Table - Michael Card
Heeling Begins - Tenth Avenue North
Better Than a Hallelujah - Amy Grant
Our God - Chris Tomlin
Grace - Laura Story

And I'll probably think of more, but those are the ones off the top of my head. \:D/

Any song by Michael W. Smith, particularly his "A New Hallelujah" album! \:D/ If you want instrumental, "Freedom" is a fantastic album!
Any song by Chris Tomlin, especially his "And If Our God is For Us" album! \:D/
"Better Than I" - Dallyn Vail Bayles (apparently it's on an animated Joseph movie, but I haven't seen the movie. I just love the song!)
Any song from Downhere (my favourite is their "Ending and Beginning" album, but their new one, "On the Altar of Love," is great too.) Two songs to consider listening to: "Hope is Rising" and "For Life."
"As It Is in Heaven" - Matt Maher
"Movin' on Up" by Third Day and "All in the Serve" by Michael W. Smith and "Follow Me" by MWS and Andrae Crouch - all from the "Second Chance" soundtrack
Anything by Steven Curtis Chapman - a couple of specific suggestions - "No Greater Love" and "When Love Takes You In."
Eugene Sings and Eugene Sings Christmas if your family doesn't have those CDs yet. I think they're still available through FOTF.

As I perused my personal collection, those stood out as options you might want to consider, AE. :D

Oh, and definitely look up some Fernando Ortega. I have a feeling you'd like him.

I'd start with 'Our Great God' or 'Just as I Am'.

Rock group doesn't guarantee a rock song. For example:

Use the chatroom! It's been active for a year, and most of you are missing it.
"Every time I start banging rocks together to make a beat, I feel all guilty and I need to repent for my sinful ways. :(" - Jelly
"I actually want to see this happen... the controversy would be legendary. :o" - American Eagle
":hilarious: This ladies and gentlemen is the founding of: 'The Awkward Club!'" - Steve
"Happy birthday, big Mercy! \:D/ \:D/" - Whitty Whit
I wasn't yelling. I was talking with vehemence.

She left many of us behind. She left us heartbroken. And though we cry now there'll come a time when we'll laugh. Because we'll see her again someday. We'll be with her in heaven. And when we go to heaven she'll be there to greet us. She'll be there to say "Welcome home." -From a poem that SnC wrote about her grandmother

None of those are what is really considered 'rock'. Perhaps more guitars than Chris Tomlin, but nothing like I Am Empire's "Brain Damage", which is a stereotypical rock tune. ;) However, I will admit Haste the Day are hard rock screamers, but "White as Snow" is one of the best songs I've ever heard. *shrugs*

EDIT: *cough* "White as Snow" is in no way a screamo song, btw. Listen to "The Place That Most Deny" before it, and you'd think it was two different bands. \:D/

If you can take a little hip hop beat once in a while, I'd reccomend Adam Young's (Owl City) Port Blue albums. Great instrumental music.
And if you like something a little more upbeat, but not technically "rock." I'd check out the dead swing band The W's.
