what do you think?
Poll: Should Eugene and Katrina have kids?
My vote is yes. We need some more interesting stuff to have around Odyssey. What do you, the citizens of the ToO, think?
I think the argument that having kids would "change Eugene's character" is ridiculous. I don't think they need them to have kids just yet. But, I wouldn't mind spicing up Eugene's life with a kid or two...as long as it's well written. Eugene will still be Eugene no matter what situation you put him in, I think.

I think they should, but not right now. It seems too early for them to have kids. i love that smiley! so big, so green, so animated! But I like the idea.

exactly! I just think they dont want the bother of worrying about more characters right now. Bad bad writers! I think they should, but the real question (I think) is will they? Now that the show has been revamped Katrina has not been mentioned once. It is almost as if Eugene never got married.

*sniff* So sad! Doubtful they will have kids if Katrina doesnt exist. I believe it was mentioned that Katrina will play a role in the Green Ring Conspiracy, but who knows?

Katrina will indeed be in Album 53!! However I'd agree that despite the fact that a story line about Eugene preparing for fatherhood would be hilarious (not to mention be a prefect opportunity to have Leonard and Everett come back from Africa for a visit), it would affect who he is a character, and he wouldn't quite be the Eugene we all know and love anymore. On the other hand, as of the hiatus, no one is who they were anymore, and so we might not notice as much, especially over the consideration of them having a child!!!
I halfway agree with LM, but to me, it would be worth changing Eugenes character a little to have a little Meltsner running around. I dont know... but it really doesnt matter.. as my opinions is worth nothing to the writer.

I would imagine that any child of Eugene would be like Eugene himself!

Yeah... I'm not really getting the "change his character" argument... I mean, okay, you have episodes based on Katrina's pregnancy, the birth, Eugene trying to handle a baby, etc... but we assume that they have a babysitter or Katrina is a stay at home mom (which doesn't really fit her... but as much as she is on the show, who cares? ), and Eugene can be at Whit's End and do whatever. Not sure how episodes that AREN'T focused on the baby in some way would change his character. Other than he says he has to pick up diapers instead of a calculator or something.

Remember how Eugene's father did not want kids? maybe Eugene will be the opposite!
I just asked my sister what she thought and its a nobrainer to her that yes they should have kids

I think before they move on with Eugene and Katrina, Connie needs to move on in life [Yes, I know someone out there is going "Blasphemy!"] Asside from that Eugene and Katrina seem like the type to adopt. (Is it just me or is Eugene to Matt as Wooton was to Grady?)

I think Eugene and Katrina should have kids, but only if the script is well written. And I'd like it even more if the original actress still played Katrina
Till the end of the line.

Matt is referring to Matthew Parker, and I would agree with that, although I hadn't made the connection before...
I think it would be very interesting for Eugene and Katrina to have children.

Wow. I never thought of that! It would seem that that wouldnt be necessary, seeing as how Matthew has a Dad with him.... I guess they have to create Adult/Kid duos so they can have more advanced storylines... although I havent seen any this season!31899 wrote:I think before they move on with Eugene and Katrina, Connie needs to move on in life [Yes, I know someone out there is going "Blasphemy!"] Asside form that Eugene and Katrina seem like the type to adopt. I don't see the "drastic change to his character" issue either...Eugene seems like the kind of character who would be able to adjust. Besides, Odyssey needs some mini-Eugenes and Katrinas running around; Eugene's getting a little old for the job of annoying Bernard.

I agree with the above.
In olden days, Eugene was a total know-it-all brat. He constantly argued with Connie, Tom and Bernard, and really got on my nerves too. Eugene was greatly matured, though. He still is very smart and wordy, but he has a heart and is thoughtful of others. I am glad for his growth in character, and look forward to little Katrina Jr.

so.. AE, do you see that happening in the future? Cause I think on a podcast they said they basically didn't think it would happen. For the older fans, Eugene and Katrina's family expanding would be very fun... And I guess if they're trying to appeal to a younger generation of fans, they dont think that would be as interesting to them, especially since Katrina is hardly ever mentioned anymore. I somehow think that that is the real reason and they just wont admit it. That is, however, just my opinion
